Other than all the OTHER issues with Spirit, I was always wary of the one time a week flights. This new schedule might make me consider it again.

If so you'd better take a roll of duct tape with you.😆

My biggest issues with Spirit are the size of the seats, charging for everything, lack of services, etc.

We are reluctantly booked on Spirt since they had by far the best schedule from BWI. They just informed us that they extended our trip by a day. We were supposed to return home on Wed 10/4 now it's 10/5. Hoping BSV can accomodate the extra. Hopefully not a problem in early October.

Can someone tell me what price they paid for seats on Spirit?

Normally they are cheaper than other carriers, but the best way for you to find out is to go online and try to book for when you want to go, and see what comes up.

I do hope that these additional flights may encourage AA to reduce their prices from Miami.

We paid $650 total per ticket.

BWI - FLL - SXM. 6:45am to 2:02pm
SXM - FLL - BWI 3:05pm to 11:59pm

The best alternative was to drive to Newark NJ do park and fly and take United.

Be aware of all the add on fees on top of the published fare.

Right, you have to pay for seats, and also anything that doesn't fit under the seat.

If you are ever going away for a longer amount of time you should always check getting a 1 way car rental from a nearby location to the airport. Can do do the same for returning home, sometimes cheaper and still convenient versus parking at the airport.

I just read that the merger with Jet Blue went through. Wonder how Spirit will change.

Okay Ron , just read about this but the fares will go up big time 40 % , hope not .

Lesley--no, that's the point--when I google it, it doesn't say it has been APPROVED.

Right on the Spirit add ons. The $650 quoted above did include seats and checked bags.

Had not thought of the one way car rentals, good idea. We paid about $400 for park and fly at Newark back in January for one night hotel (Kenilworth Hotel) and about 25 days of parking.

The DOJ case to block the merger will not be heard until October and a ruling will not be made until the end of this year..

All I could find is there is a pending lawsuit and no mention of final approval.

We do this all the time. Rent at a local agency on the beach where we live and drop it off at the airport the next day. We live in the Tampa area and usually drive over to Fort Lauderdale the day before and stay overnight. We have dinner at our favorite steakhouse and call it a night. Next morning drive to airport and drop it off. It's worked for us for years--through JetBlue and now Spirit (wish JB still doing it, but it is what it is). Most of the time now we just fly from SXM to TPA, pick up our car and drop off at our local beach agancy.

Just checked - Danbury Ct overnight to JFK with Hertz - 175!!! CrAzy. Used to be like 50 bucks. I get things have fine up! But!!!
