We have going to Altro in Porto Cupecoy for many years recalling when the prix fix was only $29 for three course Still a bargain at $39 with a few specials that have an upcharge
our French server who we have had many times is always smiling and full of energy the young lady server is also very pleasant
I believe we have tried everything on the menu through the years
I think my wife always starts with the tuna carpaccio, a petite portion of fresh sliced fish I wished my bowl of lobster bisque was filled to the top
For my wife's main course she selected off the specials board, the shrimp and scallops over braised leeks ($12 upcharge) while the scallops did not have a good sear, the dish was still very good especially with the leeks
I ordered the sweetbreads and wow what a tasty rich dish with plenty of morels and other domestic mushrooms the sweetbreads and mushrooms were served between delicate sheet of pasta like a loose ravioli
the desserts continue to be as good as the earlier part of the meal with a nice coffee tiramisu of which I am fussy while my wife enjoyed her first creme brulee of vacation
Altro always hit the spot, just wished we had gone on Friday night when you can enjoy the music from neighboring Rendezvous lounge
We really enjoyed Altro and will be returning on our next trip. I think part of the pricing increase was removing the 15% service charge. I know it's not the entire amount, but it's a contributing factor and we were pleasantly surprised that they didn't add it last time. I'm sure like as most people, I prefer to pay more up front rather than have to deal with the 15% plus figure out a tip. Food looks amazing!
