If those pictures are relatively recent, I would say there is no way in h*ll that they open on November 1. But we shall see.

We can only hope it is true. As we will be down in December and the return trip is always a bit of a nightmare getting through the airport.

The pictures started making their way around facebook yesterday. I am with you; I would not hold my breath on this as about anything and everything with the airport has hit a snag along the way and the same people are still in charge.
We can only hope and I would like to be wrong on my opinion.

Lesley--that's great that he is your friend, but I am just going based on those pictures. Unless they are planning on opening the departure area and not having any stores or services available in that area. November 1 is only about 60 days away. I would like to be wrong, as having the jetways operational is a big deal.

Does anyone know if there will be an “executive lounge” similar to the old Soualiga? I loved that place.

There is supposed to be the lounge, yes, but again, no way that would be operational by November 1. Yes, I miss that lounge also.

If those are old pictures, then hopefully it will actually happen in November. It doesn't make sense for them not to post new pictures, but I have to say that it has often been difficult to understand what they are doing there.

Nor looking forward to this "Temporary Arrival Facility". Sounds like back to the tents. Anyone have an idea where it's being built?

That Daily Herald link sounds like it was written by someone in marketing. "“It gives the new departure hall a modern and sophisticated look. In addition to the stunning terrazzo floor..."
Who cares about a modern and sophisticated look in an airport?

You tend to quickly jump to negative comments. The "new arrival hall " that's being worked on is being built with steel i.e Hurricane proof and two big units are being built.

Leagle-that temporary arrival hall doesn't sound too appealing to me either.

Aw…….c’mon, Peeps. Let’s try to be positive about this.
If it’s open for departures in November, good on them but if not we’ve waited this long - as long as it’s getting done - that’s what really matters.
I choose to be optimistic they’ve finally gotten it right. And if not, there’s always the next trip. 🙂🙂
Respectfully,
pat

No matter how bad the airport experience, I try to remember that SXM is waiting outside!
