Despite having a small lobster for lunch, we always look forward to picking out a big one from the tank in front of Bistro Caraibes

Thibault showed us to a table in the corner that has two air conditioners blowing on it, this made for a very pleasant evening
as usual his brother Amaury is on his vacation, we were introduced to his son who does a nice job on the floor

a woman at a neighboring table mentioned how she was overheating, this has happen many times to us and think it's from too much sun as it usually doesn't happen to both of us on at the same meal

after ordering we were escorted to the lobster tank to pick our entree and have the customary picture taken
those from the new england area hold your breath as it was $38.50 per pound, ours was a little over 4.0 pounds

we selected some different appetizers tonight as we seems to always order raw fish as a starter and were in the mood for something different and on the lighter side

wife choose the crab salad with an eggplant puree, again not east coast Baltimore crabmeat but it was a lighter dish and refreshing
My choice was a baked goat cheese and petite salad with a few slices of smoked duck, I would have loved a full plate of the duck
I can imagine some new recipes of the thin sliced duck wrapped around something
now this meal can be a business write off, not easy to have to do menu research and development all the time, especially in SXM

There is never any doubt how great the lobster is
while my wife tries both, she prefers the grilled because of an intolerance
my choice is the thermador, probably the best on the island
side dishes included nicely cooked mixed vegetables and of course pommes au gratin

We demolished the lobster leaving little room for dessert but Caraibes has very good profiteroles with lots of chocolate sauce

after 3 rounds of ginger rum shots our server checked waves and said the drive back to Orient was grendame free

An awesome evening out, service was attentive and always friendly

Bistrot always does a fabulous job! I do love their little nameplate cards in the desserts! It's been a long time since I had thermadore! Need to do that again soon!

Beautiful food for sure!

We are from New England, and yes, $38.95 per pound for Caribbean lobster is steep. Fairly recently a local food chain was offering local lobster at $6.99 per pound. Small lobsters though.

I’m just not a big fan of Caribbean lobster. I’d order that duck appetizer in a heartbeat!

Evey thing looks great. Lots you can do with smoked duck. We have it all the time but mine is wild. A little dryer than domestic duck but still good.
