Caught a bit of sunshine early in the morning only to have heavy cloud cover the rest of the day, but at least not much rain although not going to the beach, the sand gravity is apparent as we aren't doing much planned activities
made our way over to bacchus express in the late afternoon to find the end of the day sweets and enjoyed a coffee eclair and a good sized coconut macaroon Hopefully going back today as that macaroon rocked, en Francais it is a rocher co co
our original plan was to stay in the village but our choice was closed on Monday so we had a early dinner at La Villa Sunday night in Gran Case was very busy while Monday was very quiet
Florence is still on vacation while Christophe had the night off JC and Cedric were on the floor along with a bartender
In all honestly we go to La Villa for the friendly service not the food
The amuse for the evening was a chilled carrot-potato soup
My wife started with a menu special of lobster Thermador served over a puff pastry, it was incredible with chunks of lobster Again trying to not order my usual, I licked the plate of frog legs served in a garlic butter sauce for those who aren't sure, consider them like French chicken wings My wife would not partake despite how good they were but she did soak her bread in the sauce
With nothing jumping over the menu for us to choose, my wife enjoyed the seared rare tuna and saved half for a future lunch I demolished a perfectly cooked filet with a foie gras sauce accompanied with properly cooked vegetables and delicious potatoes gratin I was pleasantly surprised on how good the filet was
Not being a big dessert eater, my wife finished off the meal with a coffee with vanilla ice cream while I finished with tiramisu
three different rum shots were poured with the last out of what looked like a plastic gasoline container and yes it tasted like it too as it was the strongest of the three
John Carlos is so great at making old and new customers feel at home
Overall a great night at La Villa
Home early to watch the end of the bachelor as one of the finalist grew up about 15 minutes from our home
My wife did have half her mian course boxed to enjoy for a latter lunch and unless included does not order dessert
Yes the basics major stations along with weather channel and ESPN and some others, only TV is downstairs in living room Also Netflix if you wanted to watch a movie maybe on a rainy day We actually ate early last night to watch the Bachelorette final since one of the last two guys lived very close to us
As much as we are enjoying So Chic Villas, we toured another unit in the same complex today and it is almost double the size with a great view and actually costs less.
It is represented by Blue Ocean Villas who we worked with last year and were very happy, agent met us today to check out another rental The rental we like for our time in Orient next year is Neptune, I think it is a great price for what it offers
We love staying in Orient as it's 8 minutes to Gran Case, walking distance to beach and village (probably can walk to that other area where we don't go) and we feel very safe The pool is absolutely empty except a few other folks although most of the time we are by ourselves
OK, thanks very much. That is unusual, for anyplace on the French side to have US channels. We are boring people these days, so really like to have a TV to watch for an hour or two at night before we turn in.
Great photos and descriptions about the La Villa experience!
That Tiramisu looks perfect!
You won’t be disappointed with Neptune. We rented that unit a couple of trips ago and the location can’t be any more perfect. Close enough to hear the waves but far enough away to let the busy days fade into the background. That unit was the most well stocked rental we ever used. Starbucks nespresso cups, large ice cube molds and assorted kitchen items. Very nicely appointed and everything worked as it should except the water. I know the property manager was going to be working on getting her clients to purchase cisterns but not sure of the timeline or if it ever happened.

Carol, with the popularity of streaming services now, and most places having Wi-Fi, I think you'll find US TV more common on the French side. We had it at our villa in April.
Georgia--I guess I was speaking about places in Orient Village in particular. Many of them, including full villas, don't have US TV. Canoua, close to where you stayed, had US TV also.
