Has anybody stayed at Moonrise at the Blue Mall building in Cupecoy? If so, reviews?

We have!! It was fine. Great location. Have to go up to the rooftop to use the pool but you are beach people. Right across the street from Cupecoy! Easy parking. Good security.

Thank you Joyce, we are booking it for our trip in March. No we are not pool people, if we wanted pool time we would just go to Mexico. See you in November/December!

We enjoy our pool time on SXM. Can't take the beach every day and when we do go to the beach we head to the pool when we return to the Flamingo. Pool time is important to us.

I bet they have to throw BUCKETS of ice to keep that water cool up there!!! LOL!!! I will say, we love the pool at Beachside villas, it seems to stay a cool temp, very refreshing!
Sand Gravity, got to love it!

As for BSV. They don't respond to my emails, they were in my top 10 choices but if their website email doesn't work or they choose not to respond then oh well as I am not going to jump through hoops. I have been in the units, decent, and I know you like to pimp them but they are not a huge draw to me. Some day possibly we will stay there but for the money in prime season I have found places I like better for that same cost or less. I could care less about a pool and Cupecoy is the place I have found that I find mental peace. If there are "pools" behind the rocks at Cupecoy then you know where to find us and we are going to be in walking distance.

The unit looks beautiful. Where is the parking? Is it behind or indoors?

I have only been to BSV twice visiting. I get why my parents and so many like it but I would go stir crazy! Cupecoy area is my fav - obviously!! And having to drive in from Maho to get there is enough to make me not want to stay and deal with the mess at the end of the runway!!! But I’m sure being on Simpson Bay is wonderful! All you hear is lack of response from the office st BSV. Not ok in my eyes!!

Todd--I honestly don't know why BSV doesn't respond to emails better. As far as the allure of the place, for me, it is all I can want for on SXM. (Although I do wish there were dishwashers in the units!) But, it's not for everyone, which I guess is good, because we could not get in.

As Todd said, there is a parking garage.
When we stayed there, we just parked right in front of the entrance....very convenient and plenty of spaces.
Either way, parking is no problem.

Yes Todd, it was tough getting response from BSV, and there was a little discrepancy re departing date that I didn't notice till sending deposit...I've spoken with Drew and he thinks that Tracy can work things out for us...in any event we may need lodging for last night or two if BSV can't fit us in, even if we have to change units, it will be okay. I agree with Carol -- we love BSV setting, immediately out to my own deck down to the beach which is always in sight! Just my 2 cents!!! We all enjoy, right!

BSV has its good following but they are very slow on responding to emails. Maybe they don't need any new business. It too is not for everyone, needs some updating very plain Jane to me. But people that stay anyplace on Simpson Bay really just care more about the beach and maybe a pool or a restaurant , bar, etc.

We got an answer calling the website phone number each time we called (twice) to book our September visit. We then had to finalize things through email and yes the email responses are slow coming.

I agree that BSV isn’t for everyone but it sure fills the bill for us. Accommodations aren’t chrome, marble and glitz but they are immaculate and very comfy and feature incredibly accommodating staff along with everything one could need to enjoy being there for a few days or a few weeks. And if it isn’t there, just ask a staff member and it - whatever ‘it’ is - will magically soon appear.
I love the beachy decor snd find it far more to my liking than some of the interior decorated higher end properties we’ve looked at. But that’s what makes us all different, right? We also love the airport views out our front door and the ocean views off the deck out back.
If we are lucky enough to stay there we count ourselves as being blessed.
And with regard to Blue Mall, I think I would feel far too isolated there but never having stayed there, who’s to say.
Respectfully,
pat

Todd, you've been hijacked!
Back to Moonrise. I have nothing to offer, but I looked it up online and it looks fabulous! Can't wait to hear all about your stay there.
And I see that there is even a second bedroom! I'm more than happy to "hide out" there for a few days if things get too "hot" in AZ next March. Right now I'm waaaaay up North (even for SK) zipping around a lake eating fish.

Hey, LeAnn,
Since the thread appears to have been hijacked anyway, and before I address some comments to Todd, I thought I would just seek some clarification on your current activities on that lake in northern SK. Are you actually eating the fish while zipping around the lake? Or just catching them and then waiting until you're off the lake to grill/fry them? Just wondering? LOL!!
Sorry to hear you might not be back until March. I will be there again at La Siesta for 3½ weeks in January/February. I enjoyed meeting and chatting with you briefly this year. It was unfortunate that our schedules didn't allow for a bit more time. Enjoy the rest of your summer (and the fish)!
Todd, I haven't stayed at Blue Mall, but we did look at renting a unit there one year. We instead ended up staying next door at Porto Cupecoy. The units all looked great to us, and the rooftop pool sounded convenient and private. The views of both the lagoon and sea are unobstructed. If staying there, ideally you do need a car and the underground parking is secure. Theoretically you could walk to Cupecoy Beach and Dany's, plus lots of restaurants in Porto Cupecoy and Jordan Village, but I think you would probably end up driving most of the time. And of course, if you have a car anyway, you have all of the beaches and restaurants on the island available to you.
Hope that helps a bit.

Decision was made. Place is reserved. We will be staying a bit over two weeks in March, one with another couple hence needing a larger unit. The unit fit our needs and the price was fair so all is good. We know the area well, know Dany well and will have a car as always. We have stayed in that area several times but not there, looking forward to it. We will report on the unit after our stay.
106 days until our next trip, see all the November Gang soon!

That's great, Todd. I will be very interested in your review of the unit at Blue Mall Condos. Enjoy your trip!
