We're going to be in the BVI's for the Feb full moon. I'd appreciate your thoughts on the Trellis Bay full moon party or Bomba's Shack?
Thanks in advance.

On this topic about what time do they start lighting the fire at trellis? And what is the likelihood we could catch a taxi from trellis to Bomba shack? How much do you think for the taxi ride? Our next trip we will definitely stay at trellis on the full moon. But I wanted a backup plan in case some of the boys want to get a little crazy.

$20 per person (assuming minimum of 3)one way. Cheaper to rent a car if you have a designated driver.

Trellis without a doubt. However, Bomba gets going late so you might make both.

Why trellis vs bomba.? We are traveling in February too. No kids on board.

I heard bombas full moon parties can be quiet on a week night.

Thanks for the great information. Can you tell me what "early" might be to get a mooring ball?

if you have to moor, anchoring is easy in Trellis, get there in the morning or the day before. The other option is a slip at Scrub

Last week we tried to anchor in Lee bay but the swell was still up so we diverted to Trellis. Full up with boats anchored near the entrance. Full moon party. Now it's getting dark and along comes a car ferry, a people ferry and a heavy rain. Held station then went over to Marina Cay where we anchored with another 15 boats because all of the balls were taken. We'll do it one of these days but after all those adventures we'd both had enough excitement for one day. The earlier you get there the better.

We were at Trellis in 2013 and actually got into Trellis the day before the "Full Moom" party. By 9 a.m. the day of the party all balls were taken. By noon Marina Cay was also full. We loved the food, entertainment that night. During the day we had unlimited entertainment watching late arrivers trying to anchor or cutting it to close to Belamy Cay.

We had guests with us for the party in Trellis on the 6th. Spent the previous night in Cooper and got to Trellis by 10. Many open mooring balls. We went ashore and did the standard walk to Aragon's and the grocery store etc. until I decided to take the boat to Marina Cay to spend the day. Our bar tab at the beach was impressive and we took the water shuttle to the party. Had a great time, as usual. It looked like Trellis filled up around noonish and Marina Cay by 2. Conditions were so calm that anchoring was an easy task for late comers.

Totally different experience -- family vs calm or crazy depending on time of year/ who else is there -- a bit like the Willy T -- tame vs crazy -- Kids trellis, 30-50 somethings Bomba's IMHO.

Paradise Club (the old Big Bananna between Rhymers and Quito's) at Cane Garden Bay has a Full Moon Party every month. <img src="http://www.traveltalkonline.com/forums/images/graemlins/band.gif" alt="" />

Kimber, we will be there for the full moon party at Trellis on July 1. Hopefully we'll leave Road Town at Noon with a check out captain. I'd like to drop him at Trellis but take a MB at Marina Cay. We'll have 8 in our group. Is there a water taxi to Trellis for the FMP and do you think this will work?

Marina Cay does have a water taxi. It was busy when I was there in December but still worked out very well for us. I can't see a reason why your plan wouldn't work. Have a great time.

I'm concerned that if we don't arrive until say 4PM that all of the mooring balls will be taken and the anchorage crowded.

Anchoring just west of the mooring field at marina cay should be very easy even if you get there around 4 or do.

Well, mid August till end of October tourism is almost nil and most places are closed down

Early December both Trellis and Marina Cay were full by 4pm and we had to anchor West of the mooring field at MC but YMMV.
