Looks promising from the photos. Glad to see they didn't go over the top and managed to retain some of the old feel and charm of the place. I will be anxious to start reading reviews and hopefully check it out in a few months.

It was supposed to open in March. The moorings probably get boats throughout. I'm guessing they'll shut for a bit, once they've got the wrinkles ironed out. That way they will be ready for high season.

I didn’t realize that Marina Cay is now under the management of Scrub Island Resort, and that resort has ended its affiliation with Marriott?

This makes me happy. Loved that little spot and was so sad to see it in ruins

Interesting to hear about Marriott and Scrub ending their affiliation. I had been wondering why I was having trouble booking on the Marriott website. Does anyone have further details on that? I've already booked one night in early May of 2024, but was hoping to add another night. Does anyone know - I am assuming they will still honor the confirmed booking I've already made?

Thanks for sharing Dan.
Wondering if the fuel dock and little store with beer and ice, etc will be back? The restaurant, etc looks fantastic. As someone else said, very nice without going over the top.

The dock is there and being used by the Scrub ferry (to drop workers I think), but I did not see any signs of fuel, water, ice service when we were there in June (before the bar/grill opened).

We heard about the change in Marriott relationship a year and a half ago - then nothing happened. While the points people bring in guests, the payment is generally less than paid bookings. My observation was that those guests were often somewhat pushy and entitled. Hopefully paying guests will up the game, but who knows.
We really enjoyed the MC food after Irma, so will be happy to have that option back. Wonder how they plan to control the freeloaders - folks who take the free ferry and carry a picnic!

Waiting to hear on the Marina Cay dining experience. I loved the old Cay but the food never matched the ambiance...

Hi RatmansWife. Wasn't the food service at MC run by Paul Mason's wife at one time? Maybe that's why it was so good. I apologize for not remembering her name. But we were always fans of Paul at Frenchman's Cay. He was a special person.

The Masons were on MC through Irma. Their house was damaged, although they stayed briefly in one of the other buildings. She then joined her sister in California. Tyrone was the chef, and continued cooking until it was shut down. Pussers was sold and the MC lease was up. Those are the bare bones of a convoluted story.
The worst food there was in the late '90s; I recall a dish of spaghetti in soy sauce! Tyrone did remarkably well after Irma, serving on the patio. He got fresh conch and seafood directly from the fishermen. He made a terrific salsa with fresh papayas from a neighbor :-)!

Thank you for jogging my memory. I met Tyrone one of the last times I was on the island. I thought he was doing a good job and the food seemed much better. I was trying to remember his name.

Tyrone Daniel. AFAIK, he's still the chef at Omar's at Nanny Cay.
