I am looking for a nice place to take the wife for our anniversary dinner in August. Reviews for Bovin Steak House on TripAdvisor are mostly very good and photos of the place look quite nice. I'm wondering if anyone on this board has any first hand experience. I know it is fairly expensive but I want to treat the wife to a nice evening as we will be celebrating our 45th. Any help is appreciated.

I've seen their menu and have passed by on way to La Patrona but never tried it. For the money I think there are many other better places for an anniversary special night.

We have been to both Bovin & Jax. I really couldn’t pick one over the other. The food was very good at both & the service was outstanding. Very attentive like no other restaurant I have been to but I have never dined in Grande Case. Jax is on the dark side & Bovin is more bright & airy. Bovin has less tables. My favorite appetizer ever was at Jax. Lobster served in an escargot dish & prepared as escargot. As you mentioned both are pricey. I am assuming you want steak because I don’t remember if there was anything else on the menu. I don’t know if I really helped. Happy Anniversary!

I just had dinner at Jax last week, and it was one of the best meals of my five-week trip. Service fabulous. I have no experience with Bovin, but you can't go wrong with Jax. Excellent!

Linda--are you back home now? I am hopeful that we will be able to see some of your great trip reports!

Yes, I am home. I don't know about reports this time. The broken water pipe incident really threw me off my game.

Need to hear more about that. Was telling my wife about it and she said it would be all she would need to satisfy the Lobster itch. She was wondering what the cost was and I told her whatever it is doesn't matter to me but I'd ask. Care to share what it cost for the appetizer?

It was around $25.00 and very filling. A great place to celebrate your anniversary.

This is it. It was too rich for me, but your mileage may vary.

Took us a long time to try Jax and now it is always on the return to list.
Their tomahawk chop has beaten out any we have had in the states.
They do provide a complimentary cake to celebrate your anniversary.

Thanks to both of you for getting back to me on the price and picture. Going to be a must do.
