Before we headed down to Le String on Tuesday morning I picked up pastries at Good Morning. A croissant for my wife and I had an apple turnover. Very good! About a year ago I got into making pour over coffee. I brought down our carafe, a scale to measure coffee and a bag of Starbucks decaf, which I mix with caffeinated at a half and half ratio. (I have to watch my caffein intake). We purchase the caffeinated on the island and I plan to try another variety just to change things up. Since we started pour over I have to say I’ve never had better tasting coffee. So that’s a rhythm for me each morning, making our coffee and I looked forward to doing the same while here. Our studio is right above Good Morning (see photo with my wife on the balcony).

After a light breakfast we walked down to Le String. We found, as someone mentioned here on TTOL, that if you plan to eat and drink at Le String there is no charge for the chairs and umbrella. The service was friendly and attentive. The bar hop (correct terminology?) came by and we ordered a Carib for each of us with two glasses of ice. He brought out the beers with two tall glasses filled with ice. We started that practice one year when we came to the island as we found it very refreshing. It keeps our beer nice and cold. We had second row seats on the beach and still enjoyed the comfortable ocean breeze. We decided to do lunch inside Le String and had Mahi Mahi and Sea Bass. I forgot to take photos before we dug into our meal, so sorry ‘bout that. As I looked around, the building had the feel I remembered from back in the day when we would eat regularly at Andy and Cheryl’s Baywatch. The meals were wonderful and we enjoyed a glass of rose, which was very good also. We hug out for a little while longer on the beach then worked our way back to our studio in the village.

After napping a bit dinner was a take out pizza from Bona Mama. Our choice was the pepperoni which turned out to be quite spicy complimented by sweet peppers. It was so good and we decided we’d try a few of their other pizza offerings while here. The evening was ended with a walk down to the beach in front of Bikini, which was really hopping. A brief storm front moved in, mostly bringing wind with no rain, at least where we were. Each evening we enjoy a glass of rum on ice on our deck before retiring. Or maybe two. smile

Today breakfast was a cheese omelette prepared by my wife with ice coffee I made the night before. We headed down around 9am and spent the day on the beach under the yellow umbrellas with lunch at the Perch. Nothing special, two hot dogs and a Carib…with ice. My wife read while I spent the time painting en plein air with gouache, which is like water color but more opaque. It was a bit of a challenge with the wind but I got it done in about 2 hours. We’re planning on going back to Le String tomorrow as we enjoyed the food and you can’t beat the value with chairs and umbrella thrown in. We most probably will opt for their burgers or wings.

Tonight we’re going to Sao Asian in the village for sushi and we’ll see what else the menu offers.

Really enjoying your updates. We will be in orient village this fall for the first time in about five years and your reviews are giving us good ideas. Very nice piece of art you created while sitting in my favorite chairs😊. Keep the posts coming and have a great time!

Very nice trip report. The pictures are beautiful.

It’s been a while since we dined at Le String, and the food looks fantastic. I love food, especially when it’s served at the beach!

Loving your reports and pictures! They really capture the essence of Orient and inspire fond memories of our stay there in 2019. Do you plan to try Yellow Sub?
