Your pictures bring back memories of our trip to Custer State Pakrkin the States. I hoarded an apple from our picnic stop and further up the road we ran into donkeys. I got out of the car and was overrun. Alas, Hubby was laughing so hard he forgot to take a photo. Love your last photo!

No, they hang out up there with the peacock and iguanas at times.

After Orient Beach empties around sunset, they head in that direction and eventually cross the road into the other field. I am surprised that they have not been hit by a car.

They used to belong to the now-deceased Lou Beauperthuy. Now they roam free, and everyone feeds them. Orange Fever provides water. Tourists offer a lot of food, including me! Lol We brought a bag of carrots last time.

Very appealing creatures. Reminds me of a vacation in Aruba, where they have a donkey sanctuary that cares for donkeys that are no longer needed to pull carts and do other work. They try to spay and neuter as many as possible. Prior to the sanctuary opening, the critters were breeding at an alarming rate, wandering loose and often being injured in traffic. Nice to see people are looking out for these animals.

Well, they are feeding them. But I would say that is about as far as the "looking out for" goes. The donkeys have been photographed getting it on....lol. Let's hope that they don't become prolific breeders.

They can be a bit destructive though - they walked through one of the beach bars and knocked over several bottles and some glassware. The staff seemed to take it in stride so I suspect it may have happened before!

They also leave a little sign that they were around. Someone needs to do a little clean up if you know what I mean. grin
