Went to Jax the other night. We have been avoiding the place due to a very average experience a few years back. Some guests at our pool spoke highly of their experience.

Very very pleasantly surprised. Steak was outstanding, 12 ounce NY Strip, and Yellowtail was the special. Also outstanding. Each had a glass of wine and $100 even with no service charge. At home we have a world famous steak place. And it was 90% the quality at 70% the price.

Also ate at Izi which is still fabulous,

Sure love the pool here. Full moon over the place but did not have phone or iPad to capture the moment. Going to try tonight.

Went to Jax last year. Nothing special. Atmosphere had no "island flare". Very stark. Could not tell the difference if you were on an island or in a big city. Steak was delicious, but no better than other restaurants we've been to. No better than a filet that I grill at home. Very over priced. Would not return. Just my 2 cents.

Both are good choices IMHO.

MIA,

It’s a totally different experience from JAX but if you’re a bit of a free spirit you might want to try the ‘steak night’ at Fat Tony’s at Cupecoy. The steak plate is (or was last November…..) a BBQ strip steak, loaded baked potato, salad and roll for $20.00 with no substitutions allowed. Best suggestion if you do go, get there early as it’s really caught on and don’t sit at the tables right next to the music if you can avoid them as it’s very loud. Good but loud.

Respectfully,

pat

Thanks Pat! Sounds like an excellent special. I added it to my list.

Forgot to mention that steak night is Tuesday and they do fill up and sell out early. We try to get there about five which gives us plenty of time after dinner to enjoy the evening and still get in an early bedtime……..which really matters when you get older.😊😊

I am not 100% positive but I think the last I saw, the price was up to $23 (or something like that) but still a bargain price if it is good.

Been to JAX once and several times before (when it was Bajatzu) and always had a great experience. It is spendy but in our case(s) it was worth it.

It was in the height of the pandemic, so I was perhaps more sensitive, but we went to Fat Tony's for steak night and it was ENTIRELY too crowded for me. The steak was only ok to me. I would rather spend more for a better steak.

We have enjoyed Jax and really loved Bajatzu before that.

I can only say, “to each his own.” We enjoy going to FT and being part of the craziness and we really like the pizza there - reminds me a little of Frank Pepe’s here in Ct. 🙂🙂

Fat Tony's would have had plenty of room the night we went, but the Nova Scotia
gang showed up and it was crowded.

The music was so good, I wanted to stay longer to listen, but thought we should give up our table.
There was a female singer along with the steel drummer who were both Great!!!

The steak however, was a little tough ----still would try again.
Lots of selections....

Terri--yes, we enjoyed the music the night we went also. Not sure who the "Nova Scotia" crowd is?

They were a large group staying at BSV. They had several Villas.
Very nice group .......

I think BSV is now a new favorite of theirs.

Finally went to Jax last year and their Tomahawk steak was better than what we enjoy here is US.
Yes, typical steak house atmosphere, service was good especially from food runner who had a great personality
complimentary dessert for anniversary

only mistake was going on our final night and would have preferred to enjoy leftovers at condo.
instead made some great sandwiches for airport

Returning this year as it has made the list but going earlier in the week

For the price you can't beat the grilled steak night at Tony's and hanging out

We also enjoyed Jax and previous Bajatzu. Yes, it’s a little pricey but it is nice change up from that “island feel” restaurant we get tired of after while, really nice to enjoy airconditioned modern sofisticated citi vibe for a change.

I'm with you on the A/C thing. it's nice to sit inside once and while in the cool A/C!! But I prefer to to enjoy the wonderful atmosphere of the caribbean breeze!! And yes, the steak at FT is really good, get there early, it gets crowded!! The Philly cheese steak sandwich was outstanding!!

Sand Gravity, got to love it!
