Are reservations still needed for the ferry from Charlotte Amalie to Road Town? We're arriving with a party of eight on Thursday, April 20. If our flights are on time there's a chance that we could make the 2 pm ferry with Native Son, but if the flights are a little late we'll end up on the 4 pm Smith's ferry. I'd like to keep the option open for the earlier ferry and not buy tickets until we arrive.

Is that a big risk? Have the ferries been running full lately?

I'm attempting the exact same thing four days after you (landing at 12:55pm) and have seen a few people asking this question. The general consensus seems to be that we don't need to buy in advance for the 2pm unless traveling on weekends or holidays. Hopefully, one of the regulars will chime in and confirm.
