Orient has a light pleasant breeze, low waves and minimal seaweed. Calmer closer to Club O. Second time at Orange Fever this trip or ever, so far all has been good and they do a nice job of spacing out the lounge chairs.

Yes. Orange Fever is one of our favorite stops on island. Food and service always top notch. Comfortable loungers too.

I have not been there for a few years but have good memories from the past. I don't recall, are umbrellas and chairs complimentary if eating/drinking there? Looking for an alternative to Bikini Beach and the attitude we received there on the last visit and also in case Mullet Bay has seaweed today. Thanks.

JD, I don't know about the chairs at Orange Fever, but KKO is a good alternative to Bikini. We too, will never return to Bikini after their attitude when they were the only place open on Orient after Irma. La Playa is also good, and comparable in price and quality to KKO.

Thanks, it's always good to have alternative options.

We were told our small cooler was not welcome, even though the beach attendant had no problem with his French buddies having a large cooler behind us. 3 of the 4 of us indicated they were going to eat there, and they did. I went about my day and ignored his attitude. Enough Bikini Beach for me.

Hey J.D., glad you are safely ensconced on the island and hopefully your trip was without drama. Enjoy your time, relax and hope you get to hook up with your island friends.

Thanks. A little delay initially but all worked out and got here in decent time. Trying a different car rental agency this trip. Hardy's Car Rental. I reserved a Nissan Versa and upon meeting the agent, he said he upgraded me and hoped I would not be upset. There are 4 of us, sometimes 6, so a bigger vehicle would be fine. Much to my surprise, he took me to a Chevy Traverse! While I don't need anything that big, it is working out fine and parking has not been an issue so far. I drove a van one trip here and just got a new Traverse at home so it should be ok. Traffic has not been bad and it appears the island quieted down substantially after Regatta. Met my local friend and others who normally travel this time of year at Lee's Sunday night, breakfast at Reveil Martin yesterday and dinner at Mark's Place last night. Today is looking like a beach day.

There you have it, somewhat of a trip report!

$20 two chairs and umbrella.

Also note, I hear Jimmy (beach) is leaving soon, the place will certainly miss him.

It might depend on time of year but last May the chairs were free for us at Orange Fever while eating there then on another occasion they charged $10.00 for a set of two. Bringing a cooler was no problem.

Hi Todd, Nice meeting you at Dany’s yesterday! We thought Jimmy was the best attendant and he will be missed. We have had great weather since arriving March 4th. Fingers crossed it continues. Have fun!

So glad things are going well and wishing we could be there with you. As the snow falls here in Ct. I’m wishing it even moreso than usual. 😊😊

Respectfully,

pat

OK, I will admit I never looked at the bill to see if we were charged. We were told on our first day that rate but we at there both days and lets just say had a few cocktails! We paid one bill for everything and the amounts looked reasonable so didn't audit..

We go to Orange Fever each trip to SXM, JC is a great waiter, and the food has always been very good. I think the price varies. On some occassions we have paid cash when we arrived but received a credit towards a drink, IIRC , other times it was rolled into the bill and like Todd, never thought the overall price was unfair.

we were there two weeks ago and went to Orange Fever several times, they charge $10 for 2 chairs, great service Jimmy was excellent sorry to hear he's leaving, we also went next door to Sun Beach the chairs are free there as long as you eat and drink at their premises, excellent service from Clem the beach boy and Margot who serves inside, both places feature clean bathrooms and a good food. Funny the comments about Bikini Beach, we went there once and the attitude turned us off and never went back, wants up with that?

$10 per set is what we paid yesterday. We ate and drank there but upon getting the bill, I thought it seemed high. I ran the numbers from the 3 total receipts and was off by $31. I ran them several more times and then questioned it with Jimmy. He ran the numbers a couple of times and agreed they were wrong and what I had come up with was right. He changed the amount to what is should have been and we were on our way. Food was very good, they were very busy so service was a little slow but a good experience overall.

$31 off on the bill? That's not encouraging.

Yes. We had 3 bills for some reason and when I decided to see if the figures all added up, they did not. I hope it was an honest mistake but I would suggest others check their bills prior to paying. Jimmy took my name when we got our loungers, we ordered a bucket of beer and a couple of drinks. We then went into the restaurant for lunch and asked for the bill before going back to the beach.

While we don't rent chairs, I'll be checking our tab for lunch quite closely!
