Can you recommend reasonable priced hotel near SJU for one night? We will have connecting flight at 3 PM, what is there to do? Thanks

Define "reasonable priced".
In the meantime check out the following (all on Isla Verde - 5 to 10 minutes from the airport):
Howard Johnson Holiday Inn Express Hampton Inn & Suites Embassy Suites Courtyard by Marriott ESJ Towers Verdanza Hotel There's even a Best Western right in the airport.

I'd just do a search on one of the travel booking sites for Isla Verde/Carolina, or hotels close to the airport. You'll get prices and user reviews for all of your options. Depending on your date there could be a bunch of nice hotels for cheap, or they could be mostly booked with slim pickings left over. If available and within your price range, I would recommend a hotel on the beach. We often stay at the El San Juan for a decent price, but the El can be loud on weekends.
As far as things to do, Isla Verde has the best beach in the San Juan area. With your limited time, I would probably limit activities to the hotel pool and beach. Maybe lunch at the hotel or a nearby restaurant (Metropol is delicious).
BTW, is this time between flights or are you coming from a cruise and catching a flight the next day? Or something else?

All depends on what you want and how much time you have. If you fly in early the day before consider Old San Juan - taxi is relatively cheap and lots to do; if you are off a cruise ship and have already been there then Condado or Isla Verde is best. If just looking for a nice overnight would agree with what has been said and go for Isla Verde.

Reasonable priced between $ 80-140/ night. We will be on our way from St Maarten to St Croix and will be departing in mid-afternoon from SJU. Would like to get good breakfast included. Thanks for suggesting to search for Isla Verde location.

Try Embassy Suites Hotel and Casino. It is about 5 mins from the airport, walking distance to the beach and Metropol, which is a great restaurant.

Great! I booked Embassy Suites for 99.00 + tax + booking fee. Price includes breakfast. Thank you all for your suggestions, we are set now.

They have a good happy hour too with free drinks and apps. If it's busy get 2 drinks after standing in line!

Not sure when you are going, but I just read on a different forum that Embassy Suites are doing renovations right now. Maybe not be a big deal, but you might want to check into it if you haven't already.

not sure if I am in time to help as you don't list your wanted dates but there is a hotel right in the airport that we use and you walk right into the terminal. You can take a cab to several close places for dinner. Last time we ate in an airport restaurant as it was late. If you are just connecting in the morning it is a great way to go. I don't recall the name but if you search San Juan airport hotel it should come up. It used to be called that.
