It should be a fun event! Every year I want to attend the events, but by the time early evening rolls around I'm beat from working on the committee boat (and from partaking of the free Heineken for volunteers) and miss the events. Well, I don't really "miss" them smile

Anyone here on the forum participating in the races or on-island for some of the parties?

Sigh. I miss the old days, with the party on Kim Sha beach.

Nope. According to the schedule, it's at Regatta Village at PDP.

Zanshin--most of the people I know are not going to be there during actual Regatta this year. It's just not the same anyway, with having to pay for the tickets for the parties, etc.. The chase boats are a lot of fun though.

I look at the list of performers and I realize I am not their target demographic.

Kim and I are looking forward to volunteering as water taxi drivers again this year. Fun way to meet all kinds of people.

The music at the Heineken Regatta events has almost never matched the demographics of the racers. It is a bit of a compromise with the island community, the acts are geared more towards local tastes and much younger audiences.

@Ritchard - I've always maintained that the toughest and least appreciated volunteer job is driving the water taxis. Long hours and lots of to-and-fro. And drunk racers telling the driver that they can't remember the name of the boat, but it's easy to find since it is a white monohull and anchored somewhere "out there".

I'll be aboard the committee boat, I'm not sure if I'll be skippering one of the cats or just doing one of the RC tasks. See you next week!
