We received some Valentine's wishes from Voyage & Horizon Yacht Charters. In each, there is a picture of Sandy Spit with a couple of palm trees. We were there last March, and don't remember any vegetation? Are the trees really there, or were they photo-shopped in?

The plans trees on Necker’s sandbar are fake. The ones on Sandy Spit were planted by JVD Scuba.

@MIDiver - My fault, I misread the original post and thought the question was about the (fake) trees on Neckar! My picture was of the Neckar trees, too. I can no longer edit my post to remove to bad image!!!

Hi Zanshn! I can’t edit my post either - seems my phone likes plan trees more than palm trees - lol. Those artificial palms off Necker are so bizarre!!

Definitely some palm trees trying to grow on Sandy Spit. Cruz likes to get some shade from them. This was from May 2022.

That photo is ridiculously clear! Curious what camera/phone you were using?

Skipstraw's pic looks to be of Sandy Spit whereas Absolutely's looks more like Sandy Cay ... IMHO.

Nope, was on Sandy Spit. Sandy Cay has a lot more vegetation, as seen in the background on this pic from the same day.😉

I stand corrected! I just don't remember any vegetation on Sandy spit last time I was there .. but that was 2019. And I should know Sandy Cay, as I proposed to my wife there

Green Cay in the background of Absolutey's photo......
Agree, Green Cay, not Sandy Cay.

Yep, I’m 180° out, the direction of palms should have told me I’m looking north. Plus, it’s too close and no other island in view beyond. 👍🏻
Here’s the correct direction, Sandy Cay in the background, same day…
