I use to own Time Share but lost from one of the hurricanes. Have not been back to SM for long time. Can anyone give me updates on life, restaurants, etc.
Time share was at The Towers. Don't know if it is still even standing.

Sorry, not sure what exactly you are asking. SXM is different than years ago, better in many ways, worse in others. Life evolves. All in all, still the 'happiest place on Earth" to me.
The Towers still stands but greed, etc., means it is not being used as a timeshare currently.

Royal Palm, Simpson Bay Resort, Atrium, Flamingo and La Vista are all in close proximity and walking distance to many restaurants and activities.

We had bought the Time Share back in the 80"s and spent many years there before several of the hurricanes. Then crime was on the rise for a while.

There are two restaurants that opened recently where Cherie’s was. Roma is Italian & Mr. chow is Asian. I believe one more may open. If you liked the show at Cherie’s it is now at Sunset BeachBar.

The "Hot Chocolate Band", formerly of Cheri's, is at Sunset, at least according to the Sunset Beach Bar facebook page. LINK

If you have once stayed at Divi and survived the torcherous sales pitch you should try another location. LaVista is very nice but located up a hill. Restaurants near but you'll have to walk. If you rent a car you can consider staying anywhere.
Horney Toad is in the Simpson Bay area right on the beach with a couple of eating places nearby such as Mary Boon and Karakters Beach bar. If you don't mind walking it's a short way to the main area of Simpson Bay with many many good places to eat. Look through some of the back posts here for more info on dining,
The Toad has kitchens so you could shop and cook some meals to eat on your deck overlooking the ocean then walk out your unit for a swim. or contact Jeannie at Shop N Drop. You fill out a form choosing foods and she delivers to your place ready upon your arrival. See the TTOL Sonsors listed here on the site at the top of the page to contact her.

The same band plays at Sunset minus the show that was at Cherie's.

We actually just stopped by The Towers a couple of days ago to check it out for a friend. They have the entrance road blocked off and people park in that area to go to Mullet bay. Sad! The Towers entrance
