I know we have a new forum for Caravansarai, but I didn't want this to get buried because people's vacations could be at risk. RCI moved me from Caravansarai last Saturday in the middle of my 2 week stay there. Apparently they are not affiliated with RCI as of last Saturday. Those of you trading into Caravansarai will be relocated to another timeshare on the island, if available. I was moved to Sea Palace in Phillipsburg and I love it. It has just been remodeled and the rooms are really nice. I think it's an upgrade from Caravansarai, so it worked out nicely for me. The downside is the street parking, but so far it hasn't been a problem. Since this will be one less resort to trade into, rooms on the island might be harder to get in the future for us timeshare owners.

Just curious, did you ASK for Sea Palace? As this time of year, there should have been lots of other places available. I personally would hate that location, but glad you enjoyed it.

No I did not ask for Sea Palace and I was furious that this was the only place available. I'm so glad I got to come here to see how nice it is.. You would think that there would be plenty of inventory for RCI to work with, but this was it and they had more than 30 rooms to come up with in a very short time period. It's not about the rooms that are vacant, it's about what RCI has in their inventory to give you, according to the manager of this resort.

That makes sense. Just because it's off season doesn't mean there is high inventory. I just ran a search from now to the end of January and 6 units showed up at Sonesta Great Bay and a few at the trade winds boat. I was kind of surprised that was it. Maybe at the full site there is more. But the mobile site that's allnthat came up

Maybe more people are using their unit vs trading. This would make inventory minimal. And as there is a yearly fee to join RCI or II maybe TS leasee's are opting out since they are not using these services and thus less inventory to trade.

And not all timeshare owners belong to RCI; we don't. Our plan is to use our unit, and if for some reason we didn't, then we would rent it through the resort.

We had II while we owned, when we had issues with Pelican Resort, now Simpson Bay, we were told to join RCI. Have never used it. We traded twice thru II, not worth paying for as we used our unit. We opted out of both RCI and II when they came up for renewal.

In the past after I dropped RCI if I wasn't going to use my unit I either rented it out, gave it away to someone to use or let it sit vacant. Lately I use all my weeks. I got fed up with dealing with RCI and all the excuses they had for not filling a trade. There may be others like me, hence no inventory for RCI.

Were all thirty people put at Sea Palace? Did you talk to anyone else that was kicked out?

If RCI had not come up with the Sea Palace week, would Caravansarai have put you out on the street? I don't know why RCI would have moved you otherwise as they had already gotten the exchange fee from you. Glad you are enjoying your time at Sea Palace.
