This interview gave my husband and I a small glimmer of hope. Thanks so much for posting.

Teresa and all,

We have no dog in this particular race and quite truthfully, we've always been happy with our own timeshare - well within reason, that is - but it should be encouraging to all island timeshare owners to see any branch of the government FINALLY stepping up to the plate and coming to the timesharers aid. I hope it's a good outcome for Caravanserai owners, and ultimately, for all of us with better protections put in place.

Respectfully,

pat

To me it was just a telephone interview with no substance.

Like you, we have no dog in the fight at all. But we do not want people to be "taken" either. Hopefully the SXM T/S association and the government can do something at least to make things better and/or protect the t/s people involved.

The interview was nice and interesting in the "desire" to help people, but as far as substance -- shall we say lacking as a good term?

As a follow up question:

I am familar with SHATA (SXM Hotel and Tourist Association) have talked with them in the past, although has been a while.

Is the SXM T/S Association part of SHATA?

I know that many, if not most, of the T/S places are part of SHATA. Just courious, as that would also lend weight to the situation here.

Not that they could not get involved if even independent, just wondering?

Sorry, but I have to agree with you, Wendell and Carol on this. Nothing there that would get my hopes up if I were involved in this ongoing fiasco. When the mention of SXM laws was brought up, it left me shaking my head.

Yes, that's what I thought. I wasn't aware that SXM laws have any protection for timeshare owners..
