The weather has been great, with just a few quick showers, mostly at night. We did get a little wet the day we went to Plum Bay, so decided to cover stuff with our towels and swim. It cleared off in a few minutes.
Wednesday we picked up my cousins from the airport from Statia (in route to a wedding in the states) and went to SMYC for breakfast. We had 3 breakfast combos w/eggs & French toast and 1 eggs Benedict. All were good - temperature was perfect and we enjoyed watching the boats come and go for a bit. We showed them our condo and after dropping them back off at the airport, headed to Plum Bay. Our first time there and it was beautiful. There were enough people so we felt safe, but few enough to have privacy. We watched some locals try to fish on the rocks, but they said it was too rough to catch anything and headed to another spot. We went to Dany's at Cupecoy for rum punch and to watch the sunset, which was lovely. We decided to see if we could get a table at Spaghetti House and if not, order to go and take it with us. We got a table, but they filled up quickly. My husband said you have to get Spaghetti at the Spaghetti house, but the waitress recommended Chicken Parmesan w/spaghetti... he got it and said it was GREAT... pretty high praise from him for spaghetti. I got the gnocchi with walnuts and blue cheese. It was delightful as well.
Yesterday, we went jewelry shopping in Phillipsburg...given the option, I deferred Christmas present to island jewelry shopping. Found some small diamond earrings for my grand daughter and a couple of necklaces for me - was very happy with the purchases! We had realized we had lost a credit card...after thorough searching, our only hope was we accidentally left it at Chesterfields...and they emailed back at the last jewelry store and said they had it! Whew! So, we headed back to Chesterfields for lunch...it was kinda nice to see it in the daytime - we've only seen it at night. Nothing interesting for lunch...Chicken Caesar salad and club sandwich, but both were fine.
After lunch, we headed out to Long Bay. One big yacht anchored in the bay.... we just spent the afternoon reading and hopping in the water when we got hot. Heaven...makes me wonder why we even make the trek over to Orient! We came back for some French rose wine in our private hot tub. I've never been a hot tub person, but this one is warm rather than hot and so relaxing. It's become our routine before getting ready for dinner.
I've been looking forward to a return to Le Bistronome ever since we began planning this trip and it did not disappoint! Chantal is so good... idk how she can make the whole room feel welcome and catered to with so little help. We were early, so sat out side, people watched, and had a "cosmo"... it had so little cranberry juice it was barely even pink, but it was wonderful. We shared an appetizer of mussels, but prepared like escargot. We'd never had them outside their shell that way, but they were so good! I got the fish pot and my husband the baked scallops. Both were good, but the scallops were the best. My recommendation is to get them if you go! Dessert was a very yummy chocolate mousse. We were having such a lovely time that I didn't think to take a single picture, but that's the mark of a great evening!
