If you don't stop in here for breakfast you're missing out on something really good. I had The Resort which is French Toast Baguette with fresh fruit and whip cream. My wife had The Meditation-Time which is a big crepe with aged cheddar and seared red pears with a piece of brie, with a side order of grilled baguette. She described it as devine. Again with complementary Mimosas from our friend.

Thanks for the message and I'm glad you enjoyed it. I usually never eat breakfast but I will have to give this a try in March. That French toast looks like it would fit the bill.

It is more expensive than a lot of other places for breakfast, but the portions are HUGE and the quality is amazing..

JD--they serve lunch also, so you can get the same stuff for lunch. Really quality food there. I am always amazed at the quality of the fruit salad, in particular.

Totally agree with your assessment Whale Tail..top of our list too. By the way, thank you for taking time to stop by and introduce yourself at the BSV while we were there..it was Natasha's and my pleasure to meet you!

We had breakfast at several spots this last trip and while food is the main driver of our preferences, the service, location and atmosphere really affect our where-to-go decisions..Reveil Matin is our favorite, followed closely by Rendez-Vous Lounge in Porto Cupecoy. Lots of healthy choices for those that are looking for those options. Zee Best would drop into the third slot..Eggs Benedict and mimosas at the SXM Yacht Club carefully timed with a bridge opening would be next, new spot Oh! Paris next to SSBB was a welcome addition.

Croissant Royale at Marina Royale in Marigot has dropped down our list recently due to how dodgy the neighborhood has become..they've also lost some tables as the awning that covered the main seating area is gone..so it's a few tables in the sun or two-tops lined up along the covered upper walkway along the marina that takes you passed the shops, etc. All the tables were full both times we stopped, so we moved on. Salt would bring up the rear. Really been a mixed bag there, sometimes great, sometimes not so much and at those prices I would think consistently great would be the target.

We're always grateful for the reviews on here, as many of them have prodded us to try some spots outside our normal routine that have become new favorites. There was a thread praising a great meal at Ocean 82 in Grand Case..couldn't agree more! I was craving lobster thermidore, and they didn't disappoint! They fill the shell with lobster bisque and then in go nice chunks of lobster, including the claw meat. It's served piping hot with bubbling cheese on top. We went back a week later and had another great experience. They are on the Open Table app, so easy to make reservations and also request a waterside table.

Cheers!

gomer--as far as the location of Reveil Matin, it's convenient to Beachside Villas, but the location right there ON the road is a big turn-off for me. I would LOVE if they would have a different location on the water somewhere. But meantime, I will definitely still go there next time!

I agree. A water side location would really compliment the place.

And that's my bone to pick. The locations is NOT good!! I didn't fly 3.5 hours to eat breakfast/meal in a parking lot!! Louise loved her meal!! I made breakfast that morning at "home-BSV" so I just had a tea. Now put that restaurant on the water somewhere on the Dutch side, I'm there! As for price? I'm on vacation, I don't care, if it's that good, that's all that counts!!

"to eat breakfast/meal in a parking lot!" It's far from being a parking lot just because it is on a street and cars park in front like so many other restaurants in the area.

There are many comments I do not get and the parking lot thing is one of them. Kind of like those who rag on Mark's Place location. You need a parking lot if you want to have customers and there is only so much water-front real estate to go around.

Mark's is different, as they have plants between the restaurant and the parking lot, so you're not just looking at the parking lot and feel like you're sitting IN it.

Comparing Reveil St Martin to Vesna Taverna, Vesna wins hands down. I asked the owner at Reveil if they made their own hollandaise. Nope. They don't. Vesna Taverna makes it to order and it is delicious!

Neither has a good location.

How about Driftwood Boat Bar? Isn't that kind of in a parking lot? I don't hear complaints about that, other than the LACK of parking.

I really am not a hollandaise fan in general, but I love Reveil Matin.

Yes, as you said, Driftwood basically has no parking.

Reveil Matin's pricing is comparable to many other restaurants that serve full breakfasts. Don't know where you get this idea that they are pricey? The quality and freshness of their food is excellent and the service is also.

Maybe by your standards but I find it expensive by mine. To each their own.

I have eaten there a few times and really didn't find the prices out of line at all. Meal prices have gone up everywhere since Covid and they certainly serve large portions. Lots of fruit which is always expensive on the island.

I also find it a bit pricey, had breakfast there this past November trip and food and service were very good. But spending $60 on breakfast is really out of my comfort zone, lunch yes but for breakfast - itโ€™s crazy. I am not saying their food was not worth it, but breakfast itself as a meal not worth that kind of money in my book. We never paid that much at the Yacht Club.

You are 100% correct!!!

The prices aren't at all out of line. Reveil Matin's 3 Heures plate, which is 3 eggs + 3 pieces of bacon + 3 breakfast sausages and 3 pieces of toast is $12.95. Chesterfields, Rendez Vous Lounge, Tortuga, SMYC and Vesna Taverna are all equal or higher priced for lesser quantities. The argument that they are pricey or expensive is not valid if comparing to other establishments. They are a great value.

This is true, but when you have cars idling three feet from your table, that's not for me. Nor going to any other restaurant like that! As far as Driftwood goes, that's overlooking the ocean and the runway! And the cars aren't on top of you!! Mark's place? there is no parking up against the dining tables.
