Elizabeth--from the angle, it looks to be somewhere close to what used to be called Green Cay Villas?

Not familiar with Green Cay Villas, but it is way up there overlooking the whole area. Very picturesque setting.

OK, it's not called that anymore, I don't think. It was 16 separate villas, arranged up the hill above Orient. The complex was sold to individual investors, who bought the individual villas. We stayed there several times.

It's fairly heavy on Orient Beach, but gets lighter the further south you go.

Interesting. We stayed at Green Cay 3 times in the early days, thanks to Jim Ruos (RIP).

I remember now! Carol. You were in the unit next to us. One night we had an uninvited intruder who took the house stereo,a pound of turkey bacon, and a couple of our friends from South Carolina compact discs! LOL Got in while we were sound asleep! Thats how I got on traveltalk! Met you and Eric

Kenny--wow, I don't remember that. I guess a break in at your place was more memorable to you than it was to us. Glad no one was hurt! And yes, Jim was a wonderful person, god rest his soul. We rented villas and other places on Orient from them for a long time.

No sargassum on Simpson Bay beach, but a lot more towards the north end of Orient Beach. Some of the other beaches have some too.

Although we love Orient and have visited many times…things have changed so much there since Irma…people who returned to France …beach bars gone or relocated…rougher water and windier, sargassum… we decided to try another beach on the island next May…probably our last trip to sxm…😞. Fingers crossed we made the right choice…
