Thursday November 3 – Our apartment rental is a two minute walk to one of the several beaches in Grand Case. Shortly after breakfast we packed up a few things and headed down to the small, but sandy beach, with beautiful blue water and calm waves. The views over to Anguilla and Creole Rock are picture perfect. The ocean water was warm and we spent a bit of time swimming and floating about.
Today we met our friends, Bill & Elaine, for lunch at La Main a la Pate, located in the Marigot Marina. Marc ordered a pizza (half pepperoni / half Bolognese). I ordered off of the 21 euro price fix menu – salmon quiche & salad, mushroom ravioli and coconut & pineapple tart. Elaine had moules et frites and Bill had a cabbage & sausage stew. The food and service were excellent, as always, and the company of good friends was even better. It was nice to see that the marina boardwalk has been repaired.
The rest of the afternoon was spent floating in the pool, reading and enjoying cocktails. At around 5:00 we dragged ourselves out of the pool and walked down to the beach to view the beautiful sunset. It did not disappoint!
Dinner was takeout from Spiga, which is very conveniently located directly across the street from our rental. Our two meals were pappardelle bolognese and filet of beef tenderloin with potatoes & vegetables. Both meals were excellent! The beef was cooked perfectly, as was the pasta, and the portions were generous. Spiga never disappoints.
The weather has been gorgeous thus far. That is going to change soon, I think. It rained a little bit overnight and the skies are grey this morning.
