Hello, I used to be a regular on this but stopped going to the island after all the hurricanes. I have some questions: Now that we are retired we can spend more time on SXM than we did before, 2 weeks was never enough so we are looking at a 2-3 month stay in Jan-Feb-March time frame. Does anyone have any recommendations for condos or apartments long term? Is Mont Vernon still in operation and if so is that a viable option? I read that the pools are not operational. We prefer the French side namely Orient area. Can you still do au natural early morning walks along Orient? We have stayed at Mont Vernon in the past at Le Hoste, and Alamande, do they still exist? Please excuse my lack of knowledge it's been awhile, thanks in advance everyone.

Richard--Mt Vernon is not being sold as Mt. Vernon per se, but there are lots of units for rent there, by individual owners. Le Hoste and Alamanda again, are not being rented as such, but are owned by individual owners. There are also a ton of different individual condos in that area. You might want to contact an agent that rents in that area. Since we are in September, I think perhaps you are a bit late to try to rent for several months in the same place, but perhaps you can string some rentals together. Au naturel EARLY morning might be possible, but I wouldn't count on it. Suggest you check out VRBO or similar.

Now that my wife retired and I'm semi retired we stay alot longer. Yes 2 weeks wasn't enough for us either. Last year we stayed 4 weeks in Orient Bay and this year it will be 6 weeks. We can't wait! Now over the years we have gotten to know a few owners and managers of places in Orient Bay. Talking to them directly we have found very good deals for extended stays. That being said I suggest you realy know and trust them because your working without a net. In that there are some guarantees when you use an internet platform or local realtor. I remember you from years ago too.

Welcome back! 2 weeks wasn't enough for us either. Retired last December, wife in April. 4 weeks next Feb-Mar. Using our timeshares at SBR.

JohnB, were you referring to me? (I remember you from years ago?) If so, did we meet?

Is Flamboyant an option? I read somewhere that there is still construction going on?
