We're ok here, still very windy and rainy, but so far, still have power, which I am pretty shocked at. Will do a better damage assessment later, but seems ok so far, here at the house. Not sure about the office.

We are ok here. We never lost power either. Lots of trees down in our neighborhood including one of ours.

Tornado damage north and south of me in Palm Beach county, but my power only blinked once (so far, knock on wood!).

Western side of the state got it bad; sending them all the best wishes I've got!

mort--your power is probably below ground? That's the big problem here, nothing is below ground. Just got back from the office, no power there, but no damage either, so that's good.

Jenni--so guess you're not currently in Boston? laugh

But SW Florida really is bad, feel sorry for them.

Moving this to People Talk.

We haven't heard from our friend in Fort Myers Beach who elected to stay in her home 600ft from the beach. Last we heard first floor was flooded up to her legs and was going up to second floor. No word since then and that was before it made landfall.

Scuba--hope she is ok. That doesn't sound good. She should have left.

Doesn't sound good for our friend. Last we heard was water already in second floor and it hadn't made landfall yet, Her brother's home was across the street and is in hospital after being rescued. No sign of her and her home is no longer there. We are heart broken and can't imagine the fear she must have had through this.

She's in our thoughts. We're in Clearwater and at one time we were expecting a direct hit, so we dodged this bullet. The destruction just south of us is horrible. And now South Carolina appears to be in the path of Ian.

She used to have a home in Clearwater but sold it years ago.

Scuba--that is horrible. I do not understand why she stayed. I hope she is found alive.

She didn't expect it to be this big. Last hurricane that was forecasted and she evacuated for they wouldn't let anyone return for 2 weeks. This was supposed to go to Tampa but changed direction to a direct hit on Fort Myers Beach where she was. She also owned other apartments around there and wanted to make sure they would be ok. Also 2 cats that she said would not like to be moved. We tried to talk her into leaving but that's history now. Just praying for a good outcome.

I do hope she survived. People underestimate the power of Mother Nature and think their property is all they have.
Life is all anyone has, things like nick knacks and furniture are not important. Life is important!
I never care for my properties if my life is in danger. I warned everyone who that this was a threat to Florida before it was a TD and I warned again when it was heading to Florida. Prayers for your friend…

Pretty hard to wrap our heads around it. She had a chance to jump to waiting arms as her home was failing but elected to not jump. Not sure why and will never know but she is really missed from our lives. Thanks all for the well wishes.

Checking in from Punta Gorda. Ft. Myers Beach, Sanibel, Pine Island pretty well shredded. Not a good place right now. Power crews have done an amazing job here. We are back up after 3 days.d Beats the original estimate of 1-3 weeks. I-75 is reopened after the Myakka River Bridge flooded out.

Jerry--so glad you have power. It makes such a huge difference. Did you have a lot of damage at your house?
