Just got our EHAS approvals--mine was virtually instantaneous--probably cleared right after the credit card charge cleared. Mrs. Cruzer's took a whole 1/2 hour.

I now have a bunch of new places to try out, based on people postings here--Balls and Wine, Hibiscus, L'Altro and a few that escape me right now. Thanks to all for your restaurant reviews. Oh, and Be Kool is now open, unlike our May trip.

We'll be spending 19 nights at GCBC, with reasonable assurances our room will be ours this trip, and 4 nights at Mary's Boon. We had a credit there left over from 2020 and enjoy the place too much to stay away.

Good news/ Bad news. Bad news is we have a 5:30 am departure out of DFW. Good news is we land around 1:30.

Cheers

Scubaman, unfortunately we connect in MIA, Flight time only looks like a direct if you're from the west coast. I think the direct only operates on weekends.

And yes, Carol and Jazzgal, I have the best of intentions of reporting. But I've also learned a potential lazy trick here--pictures can substitute for commentary. We'll see.

ETA: I forgot about the west coast being 2 hours behind DFW. Never mind.

Got it. We almost booked the SXM-DFW-SEA return for June but figured it would end up being cancelled and have spent to many nights in Dallas due to missed connections. So we booked the SXM-MIA-SEA return. Safe travels.

Cruzer, We take that same flight out of DFW in October. The bad news for us is that we are 2+ hours from the airport.

Jaybird, apparently that's a popular flight here because we're also taking it in about 2 weeks. I was feeling pretty sorry for myself because we're an hour away from DFW ourselves. And the thought of leaving in the wee hours of the morning to catch that 5:30 AM flight wasn't too thrilling. After hearing you're 2+ hours away, I don't feel quite as bad anymore!

There is a big advantage to that early flight out of DFW. If it gets cancelled, there's a later flight that you can (hopefully) catch and still arrive in SXM the same day, albeit 2 or so hours later. I'm also hoping to catch a few naps on the way there.

We have been taking the early AA flight to MIA for several years. We have tried staying at a hotel near the airport that includes parking but hate their shuttles. They service several hotels and are slow to pick you up at the airport. So now we get up at midnight, leave the house at 1am, arrive at the Parking Sport North at 3:15 and catch their shuttle to the airport. It makes for a long first day but worth it for us.

Jaybird--I definitely get what you are saying about hotel shuttles. They are the worst! We are 3.5 hours drive from Miami and lately have been parking at Miami Park and Fly, as their shuttles are always Johnny-on-the-spot, both ways.

Hopefully cruzer is arriving today and we can have more on-the-spot reporting!! thumbsup
