What sites do you use to find reasonable hotel rates in manhattan? It's amazing how rates in the same hotel vary so much depending on where you booked. Do you think calling the hotel will get you a better rate? Thanks. Anon Ellie

Hotels.com and kayak.com are my go tos.
But it is NYC ... Nuthin cheap!

Something else you can consider - stay in Jersey and ferry over. I stay in NY a lot for business so I'm not too concerned with the rates, but sometimes they've been so high that I've stayed in edgewater NJ and taken the ferry. Total cost was about half of staying in the city and in nice weather the ferry ride is nice.

Otherwise, prices are difficult. Just keep checking though as they change and you can sometimes cancel and re-book for less.

We stayed at Hotel Belvedere last year.....got the rate thru Expedia.....close to Times Square & Hell's Kitchen for meals....little market & Starbucks on the corner.....kate <img src="http://www.traveltalkonline.com/forums/images/graemlins/canada.gif" alt="" />
