Back in February there was some activity at the old Cheri's site. Were they just cleaning things up or has there been actual progress on whatever is going to be here?

They were building some stuff there in June, but at this point, my thinking is that probably they are not going to open until after hurricane season. Something like a food court type thing.

I asked basically the same question after our April trip, having seen lots of activity there during our stay but nobody seemed to have anything to offer with concrete details. 🙂🙂

They are working there today. Still have work to do before completion. As a contractor, I would say they are a couple of months away. But factoring in island time.......who knows. Will try to get a pic later.

I saw some pictures on Facebook on one of the sxm groups. Looks to be progressing.

On one of the facebook pages someone reported there will be 2 restaurants there with seating and entertainment in the middle. Also room for food trucks on the alley next to it. Supposedly a "soft" opening in November.
Sounds interesting!!

Thanks for all the responses - I'm not returning until January, but I start getting "antsy" as soon as August rolls around. If MamaB is right, it sounds like a great addition to Maho

I think I also read on FB that it's the same ownership group as 3 Amigos and Jax.

timnboston,

You manage to get all the way to August? I get that way about the day after I get home from each trip.

Linda,

I think I read the same thing quite a while back. It might just be the draw the area needs and bring back some much needed new life to the area.

Sue,

We aren’t in an area that lends itself to ‘food trucks’ so I was totally unfamiliar with how good they could be but I attended a gathering this summer where the hosts had a pizza food truck that served, beyond the obvious pizza, salad and gelato and it was awesome. Anxious to see how this works on SXM if this is the case.

Respectfully,

pat

Here are some photos from 9am this morning. August 12 2022
According to Alex, one of the owners, it will be a food court with a few restaurants and places to buy drinks

This is what Jay ( 3 amigos, Jax) told himself: 2 restaurants, Bar , and a few food trucks , we also have a deli / pastry shop on the other end slated for nov 1-15 opening. (08-12-22)
