We are on island now, and were surprised to see the lack of progress with airport repairs after all this time. Does anyone know what is going on and when they will be done?

The construction contracts were awarded earlier this year. Couple of years before completion.

Scuba--let's certainly pray there will be no more setbacks!! The sign in front of the airport says completion in 2023. I kind of doubt that, but it would be nice if it was done then. Sure will be nice when there are jetways again.

Fingers crossed here too that it's ready before 2023 hurricane season.. Not only the jetways but the whole upper level is surely missed.

Was just through there last weekend and definitely agree the progress was disappointing (first time I saw it since Irma). That being said, there were posters on the wall in the departure lounge that covered both the history since Irma, and the go forward 'plan' which targeted completion in mid/late 2023. Who knows if it actually happens, though....

There does not seemed to be any rush to bring this wonderful airport back to life. We have watched from the very beginning when they posted drawings of the new Airport and we couldn’t imagine how and where there was enough room for it, well they did by creating more land on the lagoon side for the road, and we watched for a long time as it was happening. The finished product was beautiful place to arrive and depart from they put a real good impression on arriving passengers. Then the bitch Irma came and did the unthinkable. The question on everyone’s mind is how can it take so long to bring it back 6 or 7 years is hard to imagine, I guess we revert to the saying it’s Island Time, yes there have been issues like the Flue and changes in management but still hard to believe this long, here hoping there aren’t any more delays.

Just because you don't see the work, doesn't mean nothing is being done. The inside is a decent hive of activity. It takes so long because we too have a greedy government.
