It rained overnight Tuesday night, for the first rain since we have been here. I doubt it was very much, but I guess anything is better than nothing, since everything here is so dry.

Wednesday morning we enjoyed another ham and cheese quiche from Le Suciere, coffee and mimosas, before heading out to Carrefour for a few supplies. As things turned out, we ended up with $60 worth of stuff. I can't EVER go to the grocery store and get less than a dozen things! duh

So, we had decided today would be a 'home' day. I worked on book #4 and Eric hung out for a while. The seas were pretty calm all day and even Pat probably would have been good to go into the surf today!

BeachCouple from here on TTOL came by at one point and we spent a nice time just chatting and enjoying each other's company. Come lunchtime, the flavor of the day was bacon cheeseburgers on the grill.

Around 6 PM there was a hard rain for a few minutes, which I know the locals were happy for.

After another hard afternoon of doing nothing, dinner was to be our kind of traditional celebratory 'dinner in'--shrimp, baked camembert, fruit, and bagette.

Good stuff!!

And thus endeth a perfectly lovely day of doing absolutely nothing!!

Thursday was our anniversary, so I insisted on a break from our normal routine, which is breakfast in every day. Around 9:30 we headed to Reveil Matin, which to me has by far the best breakfast selections on island. While we were definitely dithering over what to have for breakfast, I knew that my choice of drink would be a mimosa! smile toast

Eric settled on boring old coffee.

After much stewing, I decided on a waffle, topped with their lovely fruit, with a side order of fried potatoes.

[Linked Image]

I probably should have just stolen some of Eric's potatoes, but then I wouldn't have had any leftovers to have for breakfast tomorrow! There is a method to my madness!! clever

Eric got eggs benedict with ham and swiss and potatoes.
[Linked Image]

For eggs benedict fans, they have about a half dozen DIFFERENT eggs benedict choices, along with omelettes, crepes, etc., etc. Their menu is huge, as are the portions! Eric certainly enjoyed his meal, as did I. I brought home a bunch of the lovely fruit, along with said potatoes. We finished around 10:30 and stopped by Maho to pick up a bottle of wine and the Daily Herald.

Back at the 'house', I resumed 'work' on book #4 and we hung out in the breezy living room here at BSV. It's really hard to beat sitting here, enjoying the wind and the waves and the scenery. I do wish the Sahara Dust would go away, but I suspect it may be here for the duration of our stay. I wish it was actually raining, instead of just the dust, as rain at least would help out the island, which is incredibly dry.

We had reservations at 7 PM at Bistrot Cariabes for our anniversary dinner. It was lovely to be greeted at the door by Thibault. (Amaury was off for the evening.) We enjoyed a complementary champagne cocktail, and toasted 43 years.

[Linked Image]

We started with some lovely lobster bisque, which we asked to share.

[Linked Image]

I chose the rack of lamb

[Linked Image]

and Eric had the duck.

[Linked Image]
Both were cooked very well. The meal was accompanied by a nice pinot noir. The highlight of the meal was the molten chocolate cake, which was da BOMB, with coffee.

[Linked Image]

After, enjoyed the complementary ginger rum shots, which were spicy and powerful!!

We were seated at the table just behind the lobster tank

[Linked Image]

, so we enjoyed the show on the street, and watched everyone choose their lobster for dinner. Several times we saw groups of young military guys walk past--unmistakeable, with a group of 12 young fit guys, all with buzz cuts. One of the yummiest parts of the evening!! smile

Thus endeth another successful day..

Thanks for keeping the good vibes alive with your updates! We've never been to Reveil -- pretty boring and we just eat in every day but we may have to change it up in July! Your meals at Bistrot Cariabes look amazing. That's another place we've never tried. We typically stay and eat most of our dinner meals on the Dutch side. I think in October we ventured as far as Rancho de Sol for dinner one night which we enjoyed.

Carry on and thanks again for the updates!

A breakfast at Reveil Matin (the best breakfast spot on island) and a dinner at Bistrot Caraibes. Ahh life is good. Enjoy.

Belated Happy Anniversary. I neglected to take a picture of my breakfast, but it was yummy: three different crepes each wrapped around a breakfast sausage. With wonderful fruit and potatoes, of course. Carry on with your "do nothing" days!

It's amazing, the breadth of what they do so well, at Reveil Matin!!

Carol,

So very happy you are enjoying your trip and the various eateries you’ve experienced so far. I am so glad you made it to Reveil Matin - one of the best new finds for us on the island.

Will keep our fingers crossed for continued good weather and lastly, our good wishes for a very happy anniversary and many more to follow.

And btw, we (I) haven’t made it into the ocean on our last two trips and I thank the Mascarins for booking us into the unit closest to the pool where I can at least enjoy the ocean vicariously while using the pool and dreaming. The water does look fabulously calm so take a dip for me while you’re at it.

Respectfully,

pat

Pat--Truthfully, I much prefer the pool to the ocean, regardless of the waves. As I get older, I find I don't care so much for sand.. smile
We are very happy to be close to the pool, on all of our trips.

Happy anniversary! Were celebrating our 44th today. Unfortunately here in Northern Michigan it's only 61 and very windy but at least there is plenty of sun and blue sky.

What a perfect day!!

Perfect breakfast, perfect dinner and perfect water!!! Love all your choices.

I would have been so happy to stay and swim, at BSV with the water conditions now!
We much prefer the beach to the pool--But, we have met so many nice people there.

Happy Anniversary!!!

Happy anniversary, Carol & Eric! And many more. I know what you mean about the grocery store. We shop at super u marigot & always come out with lots of stuff extra like French wine, shampoo from France, and a soap for stains Savon de marsaille & then regular stuff. 😁
hope the Sahara dust clears soon! Enjoy!!

Happy Anniversary to you and Eric! I neglected to put that in my comments earlier. So nice that you can celebrate in your happy place. We will also be married for 43 years this year--celebrating just a few days before we leave for the Island. Enjoy!
