I sincerely apologize for yet another post on this topic! Been following along on this awesome message board since planning our trip, and now I just want to make sure I have this right as we leave next week:

Notes:
- All parties vaccinated
- Traveling US-USVI-BVI (just 1 night in USVI before ferry to Tortola)

Do I have the current process understood:
Going US-USVI-BVI:
- Take emed test 2 days before travel, to be prepared to show to USVI-BVI ferry, plus entry into BVI

Going BVI-USVI-US
- NOTHING required (although I do read reports that some ferry operators could still ask for a test result)??

You have it right. While right now some ferry operators are just checking passports, they have the right as a private business to protect their employees. At the very least that means masking, which they are doing.

I spoke with one ferry operator yesterday that told me it would not be a bad idea to bring the Emed tests down in case something changes during our trip this coming week.

So since we have the tests, why not pack them, just in case? Not probable, but possible.

Just to be clear, take your eMed test within 2 days of arrival, not travel. Personally, I'd take it in STT if possible to give some buffer. In the perfect world, get an unproctored version from CVS and take the day before travel to be sure you're negative and not likely to get stuck in STT, then do the proctored one in STT for your arrival test. Probably overkill, but pretty cheap insurance.

Also note, the BVI Port authority still has a mask mandate for their buildings so be prepared. I think the ferry companies are requiring masks on board too.

I'm trying to keep track as I visit places. So far, masks optional at Tico, RiteWay, and Caribbean Cellars.

Also, optional masks at Paradise Club in CGB.

So just confirming what Jason had noted... are people hearing the ferries from BVI-USVI are no longer requiring the test? I'm totally fine wearing a mask, but since the US/USVI aren't requiring a test to get back, I'd hate to not take one and then have a ferry ask for my results!

If you have already bought it, I would bring a test just in case. I get no feel of certainty that this will not change in the future. When, who knows? But, if you already bought the Emed test, better to bring it and take it home unused than to not bring it and have them change the rules unannounced (just like this change that took place-you might note the USVI government has not changed the official protocols page...Just observing).

Emphasis should be on taking the Emed test within 2 days of Entering BVI. You do not need it for entry into USVI from the states so if spending 1 night in USVI before entering BVI, take test either day of initial travel or 1 day before.

I would use some of the free government tests as a prescreening if any concern that you may be Covid +.

Take extra Emed test with you in case of need for additional testing. )
