My wife and I visited Caliente for the first time this past weekend and stayed three nights. Its an hour and forty five minute flight for us from BWI to TPA.
The hotel rooms appeared to be less than half full on Thursday, but was sold out on the weekend.
The resort is definitely first class and worth a visit.
The food was delicious and service was excellent. Our room was next to the main resort area and found the accomodations very nice and comfortable.
The pool is huge and there were several families with kids who seemed to have a ball.
Compared to other nude resorts, this was more our style in that most if not all patrons were clothed in the dining room and in the disco - although there was no prohibition against nude or topless in any part of the resort.
Food and drink were pricey but in-line with a first class resort -beer and wine about $3 to $4.
The only complaints we had were minor - there is only one way in and out of the main pool area - which is an inconvenience if you are not staying right near the pool area. The policy of not allowing any food or drink to be brought into the main pool area was a little too restrictive - we were told to empty our styrofoam coffee cups before entering the main area...several confrontations were had with people with small bottles of water that had to be emptied.
The towels provided were very cheap and not comfortable to sit on - bring your own - we forgot.
So for us, it is an ideal long weekend, luxury resort destination and we are already looking at the calendar for a return visit.
