$293 pp!! I have to say I can't even believe it's real - even after paying and getting confirmation! Granted, it's not direct - we connect through Atlanta, but that's ok!
For years, I've subscribed to airfarewatchdog.com and can never seem to find the fares they advertise in their emails, but today when I got the $293 RT CLT/SXM via Delta email - I immediately began researching and with flexible dates, we were able to score the dates we wanted, only having to fly home one day earlier than we planned. Now, I just have to wait 9 months...

That's an amazing fare. I keep watching that site too. We got fares for next May for $441 from Newark - nonstop, which I thought was a good price.

I just signed up for the site. I will never have a direct flight from where I live and may never get a good price like these but I am willing to try.

That is a great rate!
FYI, Received Kayak.com daily deals this morning. It's offering CLT to SXM with stop in ATL,via Delta, Dec. 13 - 20, $299.00.
Did a search on their website to confirm, and it has one night layover in ATL on the return flight. Still a great deal for December.

Bless you Bethy2120! Just booked our trip for next year and it is indeed good at that price. I looked up just the Atlanta to SXM part of the trip and it was over $600. Makes no sense.

We live halfway between Charlotte and Atlanta. Does anyone know if we can drive to Atlanta instead of Charlotte and just use the second part of the reservation?

What you have found is common--non-stop flights are more, even if the connecting flight is an additional flight on top of the non-stop!

With regard to just using the second part of the reservation, the answer is NO! If you don't make the first flight, the airline will consider you a no show and will cancel the reservation. Now technically you could get off the plane in Atlanta and not re-board for the last flight and there would be no repercussions, BUT I assume that would make no sense, as your car would be in Charlotte.

I don't think you can do it but I may be mistaken. Seems to me I remember reading if you don't board the first leg of your trip the rest automatically cancels?

Respectfully,

Thanks Carol. That makes sense. We'll stick with the program and sing the praises of this board for pointing us to this great airfare.

Well, I don't know if it makes SENSE, as what airlines do often makes zero sense, but it is the current state of affairs.

I just posted about this in another thread, but we got a similar deal -- $289/person from CLT to SXM for Dec. 13-20. The downside is an overnight layover in Atlanta on the way back.

We also scored for January! We fly out of Philadelphia with a layover in CLT coming and going for $286. We prefer nonstop but it's a nice savings so we jumped on it.

I may be wrong, but after playing around with other dates, it seemed like the really low fares only popped up for Saturday to Saturday trips. Did anyone else that booked find differently?

It seemed pretty random, but we depart CLT on a Sunday and return on a Friday (12 glorious days!)
I noticed this morning that the fare dropped $10pp, so I called Delta and was able to cancel and rebook and saved myself $20! smile

Great deal! We just booked the direct fright from Newark and for the first time EVER, got tickets for 35000 frequent flier miles. Usually, this trip runs 70000 FF miles per ticket. Cash price was about $425.00. WE are happy!

Please forgive me for bumping up an old string but I just wanted to add a postscript to this.

We jumped on this rate last August (less than $300 RT next May). The only downside was that we had to give up a day and return on Friday rather than Saturday as usual.

Today I received an email from Delta saying they had cancelled the Friday return flight and telling us we had to return on Thursday. I called Delta and used all the charm and grace I could muster with a most understanding agent who rebooked us on the Saturday return flight for the same price!

I take back every bad thing I have ever said about Delta.

Awesome! The same thing happened to us! They cancelled our return flight on Friday, June 5th and re-routed us through LGA with an overnight - I called and kindly asked to be switched to the return flight thru ATL on Saturday, June 6. Done. smile

Well yes, most people prefer non-stop flights, myself included - but the only NS flight from CLT is $642pp, so I can live with one connection in order to save $718! No brainer, IMO.
