We have some friends headed to BVI soon and I wanted to give them a few alternative options that are not already on their list…
Is ‘the sandbox’ open?
Is fat virgin cafe open? (last I checked it was not)
Is Hog Heaven opened?

I have not seen The Sandbox open in a while, although I understand it does open on occasion....busy times and when a cruise ship is around.
Don't know about Fat Virgin
Hog Heaven is open.

Thanks for any replies -I would not count on Sandbox being open. It was open a bit the busier times of the season, but has not not been in several weeks, at least. Still a beautiful beach to enjoy and a great spot to drop the hook for a night. -The Fat Virgin Cafe has not been rebuilt since Irma. Although, a new dock has been built there and construction has recently started on what appears to be some type of Marina Village. Based on speed of construction progress, I would not expect anything to open there until the start of the 2023 season. -Hog Heaven is open

Looking at the sandbox now, not open today at least.

The Sandbox is owned by Gumption's Mom and she pretty much only opens when there's a cruise ship in North Sound.

I stand corrected regarding Sandbox! It was actually open yesterday afternoon and me and the fiance stopped in for 2 coronas!! They have a big red "Now Open" sign they fly on the beach when they are open. If you don't see that, they're closed.
Talked to Gumption's Mom. She was evasive at best about her hours lol. It sounds like she is there from 9am Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday (the busiest days for boaters in North Sound). Not doing any food though, just drinks

We went to Prickly Pear a few different times during our time in the BVI last month and the Sandbox was never open. So bummed as it wasn't open when we were there in November either. We did notice a pretty yucky smell coming off the island the last 2 times we were there. Anyone know anything about that?

Pretty sure it comes from the toilets when you are set up directly down wind from them. Move left or right a bit and the smell goes away I have found
