Hi everyone.

Will I be able to work off of wi-fi in Italy? The international plan Verizon has is expensive. We just need to use google maps, and show our tour vouchers/tickets and our boarding passes and covid test results. Or should we put the plan on one phone and work off of that?

Thanks.

Is it still $10 a day with Verizon? I think $10 is for a 24 hour period. If that were the case, I would use it as much as I can on $10 a day, then turn it off until I needed it again. And definitely use it only on one device.

Yes, Verizon is still $10 a day. However, data speeds are reduced after the first 0.5GB of a daily session. You can purchase more.

Not sure how long you will be gone. But they have a Monthly International Plan that is $100 and no reduction on data speeds.

AT&T is the same $10 plan. As soon as you take your phone out of Airplane Mode the account gets charged $10 for 24 hours. That timer starts from the moment you turn on +24 hours not the calendar day.
We survived for two weeks in France with just Wi-Fi and Whats App. Wi-Fi is everywhere, and most the restaurants and bars have free service for customers. Apple facetime works also.

We also used Google maps for driving and walking around in the city. While we had service I would put in the way points and it downloaded the maps required. You do not require Wi-Fi for GPS, but you do need Wi-Fi for the maps.

The $10 pay as you go works out - if you need it you have it. If you do not need you do not pay.

Thank you for all the info. I think i'm going to leave to the kids who are way more techie than me. I think they were saying we will work off of wifi and do the $10.00 as needed.

One less stressful thing for me to think about.

Thank you all.

Make sure you download WhatsApp or some other WI-FI application for communication.
It automatically downloads your phone contacts of anyone else that is using WhatsApp.
