Awoke to cloudy skies, windy conditions, an angry ocean and one beautiful NCL cruise ship sailing by. We ate breakfast in our unit as it’s still too windy out on the patio. Once finished, Marc said let’s take a chance and drive to Orient beach. So we left, in the rain, hoping the weather on the other side of the island was better. But it wasn’t. I think it was windier there! We sat in the Orient Beach parking lot, read, and people watched for a bit.

Lunch was at Friar’s Bay Beach Club. It was our first visit to this fine establishment, and it probably won’t be our last. Beach chairs were offered to us at half price if drinking/dining there. We declined as we didn’t have our swim suits with us and were only going to stay for lunch. The view from the restaurant is stunning, with beautiful turquoise seas and the island of Anguilla off in the distance. We arrived a little early and were told that our food order would not be taken until noon. Promptly at noon, our order was taken: Beef Tartare, prepared table side, and a Croque Monsieur. Both meals were excellent, served with delicious French fries and a nice salad. Portions were very large, but we ate the whole thing! Cash only, exchange rate of 1 / 1.10. Stuffed to the gills, the two of us “waddled” off the beach to head back to BSV.

That pretty much sums up the day. We relaxed in the pool, did some reading and were way too full to head back out for dinner, so we enjoyed a baked Camembert cheese with baguette slices, meat and fruit out on the patio.

We need to get back to FBBC again. I really enjoyed it there, just have to get up the nerve to brave that road again! We have often done a baked camembert for dinner at BSV, although we usually have it with strawberries and champagne! grin

Enjoy!

Sending you a PM with a request.

We love it there at FBBC.

The food is excellent and they are very nice there.
We had that waiter on one of our days there--very helpful.

Carol, I didn't seem to mind the road as much as in the past.

FBBC is on the list for July -- never been there and after 30+ years, it's time we tried it! Still amazes me that there are new places to experience after all these years.

davidandsusan--surprised they'd be closed on Sunday, as I thought that was a big beach day on the French side? Can anyone confirm?

They're actually closed Mondays and Tuesdays. We trusted that info last November, and were disappointed on a Monday.

OK, I guess that's the reason not to trust websites!! It's kind of a 'trip' to get to FBBC, so making that trip for nothing would not be fun.

Oh, Jo - you do seem to have some bad luck withSXM dates and weather. But remind me, please, never to go tent camping with you…🙂🙂

Respectfully,

pat

I have had that Croque Monsieur at FBBC. It really is a HUGE serving, but so very delicious!

Pat, you are correct. We usually experience some rain on island. Not complaining though. Lol. The weather hasn’t been too bad on the Dutch side. The island looks like it needs rain. Just no decent beach time yet. There’s always tomorrow!

I feel bad, sounds like this cloud won't go away!!! We had a few days where we couldn't go to "work" at BSV until 9-10am. But made up for it later!! On those days we've done our own fact finding mission for new places for a "beverage" and an "app". Total recon for those brighter days! I'm praying for great weather here on out for you two!!

Was actually pretty nice at Mullet after a short shower. Water was calm and plenty of sun through the clouds.

FBBC is closed on Tuesdays.

I can't speak to your November experience other than they might have had to close on a Monday for an unseen reason.

My information was verified this morning with a WhatsApp inquiry direct with FBBC. Screen capture below.

I guess there are reasons to trust some websites!

Thank you. Love your picture of the calm ocean.

Been here since Monday and haven’t been in the ocean yet.

Thank goodness for the beautiful pool at BSV!
