Good Morning, has anyone traveled lately ? we are leaving from Newark, just wondering what was going on with the mask ... are we still required to wear masks on the plane ?

Flew PHL-MIA then MIA-SXM and no masks on any airplanes, required to put masks on when walking into SXM airport (many people didn't have any but they had some to give to those).

It is now a personal choice to wear a mask on planes but some airports still require it.

As of a week ago, PJIA was still requiring masks.

We departed PJI last Thursday - 4/28 - and they were still requiring masks there although many seemed to be unaware of this and we didn't see anyone pushing the issue. We flew JB into Newark and were not required to wear masks in either place although ultimately the choice to wear them or not was ours.

BTW, just a reminder to my fellow Canadians or anyone flying on any flight originating and boarding here in Canada, masks remain mandatory onboard.
Masks also remain mandatory inside airports at this time.
This will have to change at some point but this is the current situation as of May 6th in Canada.

Flew in from Miami yesterday. Plane was 50 to 60% full. 90% of folks were not wearing a mask. Put our mask on before entering airport and took off as soon as we exited. Seemed to be pretty much the case for most everyone.

Do we think they will be lifting the mask requirements at SXM soon? Has their been any talk in the works?

Effective today, masks are no longer required within PJIA. The wearing of masks is now voluntary.
