We are Verifly approved, have checked in and have mobile boarding passes. Can we bypass the ticket counter and go straight to security? Has anyone else done this?

Flew Delta out last week. They required paper boarding passes which we got from the outside kiosks. We had no checked bags.

I was as surprised as you. Delta had a separate line for dropping bags if checked in. Sadly getting to the gate still took over an hour on a Tuesday.

We returned from the island on March 31. We do not check bags. We were able to print our boarding passes prior to getting to the airport. We bypassed the check-in line and went directly through security. Once at the gate, they gave us the "card" boarding passes.

Can anyone confirm if AA has a separate line to drop bags if you are checked in?

Here is my experience yesterday. We do not check bags. The outside kiosks were covered up and no one using them. I did not see a separate line to check bags. We were Verifly approved. In order to get approved we had to add a contact person to our AA Advantage account. I can't explain this. We had our daughter on both our accounts but had to add another name and number. Verifly sent us to AA on the Verifly app to do this. When we got to the AA account our daughter was there but there was an open line above her that we had to add another person. We could not get approval without doing this. You can get your covid test approved but can't get the checklist complete without doing this. This may be our fault and may not be your experience. We may have entered something incorrectly a long time ago in our AA Advantage accounts. But after doing so we were completely Verifly approved and the Verifly checklist was complete. We then checked in online and received electronic boarding passes. At PJIA we walked in and bypassed the AA counter and went straight to security. At the first stop our electronic boarding passes were scanned. At the second stop we presented our passports and electronic boarding passes. The passports were scanned but not the boarding passes. He looked at them but did not scan them. The next stop was security where they scan your bags and etc. They did not ask for any documentation here. At the gate when boarding they checked our passports and scanned our electronic boarding passes. The bottom line is that we were able to bypass the AA counter and got through the process at PJIA paperless. If you check bags this info may be useless but for us it worked perfectly. By the way masks are still required at PJIA.

OK, thanks for your experience, Jaybird. Sounds like again that Verifly was a royal PITA. I will keep track of others' experiences, but if there is no line just to check bags for AA, it sounds useless to me, at PJIA anyway.

We plan on not using Verify and opt for the traditional way we have always checked in at PJIA.

We just used AA last week for the first time in ages. We did not use Verify, or any other digital device and we went right through as has been the case whenever we travel.

Elaine--what day of the week was it? I guess the crowds on weekends are still big.

Ed--you flew out of Miami, correct? I guess you were able to check in online though? What about checking bags at Miami AND in SXM? Did you stand in the regular line with everyone else to do that?

we did curbside checking. Our driver dropped us off, and curbside was open. In less than a minute we were all checked in, and free of our luggage.

Ed--OK, BIG difference!! So you were able to check in online AND check your bags outside at Miami??? If so, definitely will be worth my while to do Verifly. Please confirm.
