So this was it - our last full day before going home……
We had another early wake-up with coffee here on the deck. Brunch (breakfast for us and lunch for them) was at SMYC with Kim and Ken a little later so we could commiserate with them regarding their imminent departure. But only so much sympathy since they will be returning a lot sooner than we will, for sure. And how nice it must be for them to head off to the airport with virtually nothing more than a purse sized carry-on to deal with. Brunch was yummy and the company great and to top it all off, we got to see a few large boats entering the lagoon which is always a treat since this is the time they seriously start departing for greener pastures. Or perhaps that should read for bluer waters?
Meanwhile, back at the hacienda, I had all this ‘stuff’ to cram into my suitcases - most of which, once again, was never worn. Will I never learn?! Again, we used the resort’s laundry service, twenty-four hour turn-around and they do an awesome job for not very much money. So worth having them do it. And what’s really sad is the returned bagged items come back looking almost as good as the ones I slaved over pressing before packing…… Alright, I didn’t ‘slave’ but I did labor over them. And now it’s all set to travel again.
As always, the forever debate as to where to enjoy the last supper was held and after much contemplation we settled on Skipjacks. What a good choice it was. The Caribbean grilled lobster was $25.00 per pound and little porkers that we can be, we shared a five pounder. It was delicious and we ate every last bite. Coupled with escargot, It turned out to be our best island dinner of our sixteen nights. And one last BBC for dessert - it couldn’t have been any better.
Home again to continue the packing. Ugh! But at least we’re almost done.

Pat we so enjoyed all your reports during your stay. Your last dinner for this trip sounds delicious (big fan of escargot) and a 5lb lobster oh my, hope you had lots of butter for that monster. Even though our paths crossed 3 times during your visit we still are looking forward to an extended chit chat down the road. Safe travels and all the best to you and your husband.
Pat--Yes, I am somewhat surprised you were lucky enough to see several 'rich men's toys' this late in the season, but hopefully a good omen of safe travels home. We haven't been back to Skipjacks since they reopened, but perhaps next trip!
We ate at Skipjacks this last May and was disappointed both is service and food. Could have been an off night with just reopening as we have always enjoyed it there. Will give it another try this May.
Thank you so much for all your reports, Pat. It sounds as though you had an incredibly relaxing vacation, and that's what it's all about. Safe travels home.
Hey Pat!! Thanks for taking the time to post your daily trip reports!! They have been fun to keep up with! Yes, Love the deck for breakfast in the morning! The view of the sunrise is amazing at Beachside Villa's!! Hope to run into you guys over the summer. If not hopefully our Oct-Nov dates match up!! Safe travels, hello to John!! Yes, you have Louise beat at 5 pounds!! LOL!! Sounds like we'll have to give Skipjacks another try, not so good the last time, although we were 12 of us from BSVN!!
Happy to say, our service was very good - Roxy took good care of us and our food and drinks were great. Junior even stopped by our table to welcome us back, a nice touch on his part.
The lobster was a little on the high side at $25.00 per pound but we knew that going in and they did charge us for the extra mandatory sides on the shared lobster which I thought was a bit much. I would happily have passed on it but that’s their deal and again, we knew we had to have them even though no way would we be able to eat a baked potato and salad on top of all that lobster. Again, it was a great dinner and quite possibly, our best on the island but running close competition to our first night at Sublime.
Edited to add - in case you missed it, David, we did share that five pounder…..😊😊
