We are in New York visiting children and grandchildren, but tomorrow we begin a new adventure!

Normandy is our destination with a few days in Paris on the way out.
We are going to try to blog real-time on this trip if connectivity allows.
This trip has been a long time bucket list destination and will be a little emotional.
We had always planned to do it with our friend, but that will not be the case.
Hence, the title of Normandy - A trip long overdue.

Follow the link as we visit: The Land of Normans!

We are sitting at JFK waiting to board.
Just an hour or two away from our adventure to begin.

However, to get JFK from Virginia we had a slight detour to Long Island.
Boy did it make it easy traveling this morning and a wonderful weekend with grandchildren.

We awoke late no time to post. In Rouen awaiting our lunch.
I hope it is exciting as the table next to us.

They closed the lid and the entire glass bowl fills with a very fragrant smoke covering the meat and baked cheese.

Pictures later on what I had,

Honfleur a beautiful town on the sea.

If you are keeping a bucket list for places to see... Honfleur probably should be added to your list

Did not want to take time away from our visit with friends.

Quick preview of today's adventure.

We are now on the other side of Normandy. Only about 3 km from Omaha beach. The B&B we are staying in was built in the 1300s, and not surprisingly with big brick wall the internet is marginal. I will try to upload the blog, but no promises.

Here is the house we are staying in.

Back online. Internet is spotty. Currently in a beautiful rural setting in a very very old B&B.

But here is Friday the 29th installment - enjoy

Today's blog is really the reason we took this vacation.

Some the text may seem a little personal for a travel blog, but many of our friends who knew and loved Bennie are following along also.

It truly was a great day in small town town in Normandy.

Thanks Carol - Welcome Home!

I took a few minutes to develop a Table of Contents for the Blog.
If you go to the LINK: Homepage
it will take you to the Table or just click on the header of any page and it will take you back.

One thing I do not like about blogs is going backwards in time. I always get confused if I have been there or not.

I noticed this morning the link to the Gaudi Exhibit was broken, so I fixed it. Just a nice intro to the exhibit.
Thanks everybody for following along.
If Normandy is not on your bucket list... you may want to add it.
As Paris... It is Paris.

My doctor, who loves to travel, always said about France: "You do not go to France to lose weight or to save money"
It is always good to follow your doctor's advice.

All subject to change.....but Italy remains top interest. If our daughter can fit in a trip we would consider starting in Como, she is interested in revisiting Lugano, so that's a convenient home base. We were so close to Venice one trip but ran out of time with a pending train strike, I think that's a must see. We have yet to venture to southern Italy, so that's why all subject to change! Just happy to be able to start talking about travel abroad again!

It is so much fun to plan after the decision has been made to go....
Now the question is where and for how long.
Italy always a good choice, but one day I have to convince the Beerman family on the Iberian Peninsula. smile

JimandBeth,

Thank you for your kind words. Travel is Janet and my favorite thing. We have been so lucky to experience so many things and hope to do more in the future.
We are currently planning a 3 week trip to Galicia and Basque region of Spain in October and I plan to blog on that trip also.

If you have any questions on your trip to Normandy please feel free to post or pm and we will see if we can help.

TomandJanet smile

Hi Tom,
I am VERY late to the party, but just had to tell you how very much I enjoyed your travelogue. Thank you so much for bringing us along. It brought back memories of the 2 times we visited France & Paris. The first time in 1990 and then in 2018. We were indeed fortunate to visit before both COVID and the tragic fire at Notre Dame.
