that we’ve been here a full week already.
We awoke this morning to another beautiful day - sunny skies and the only white stuff I see is beach sand and that’s perfectly okay with me. And Saba is still among the missing…….
We had our morning jo on the lanai and eventually dressed and headed out for breakfast.
At the suggestion of so many we decided to finally try Reveil Matin on the lagoon side in Simpson Bay.and so very glad we did. This place is everything people have already said about it and so much more!! The setting itself is nothing special but OMGoodness - everything else about this place sure is. The menu goes on and on and on - so many choices and all looked delicious as they were served around us. John had his favorite French Toast made with baguette and I had a yummy Nutella crepe. The food was very good but to take it a step further, the staff there is lovely. They actually seemed happy to serve you and immediately made us feel welcome and as though they had nothing better to do than serve us. This is definitely a not to be missed place.
Tonight’s dinner was steak night at Fat Tony’s in Jordan Village. I thought I remembered the steak was a ribeye but they’ve changed to a strip steak and that which used to be $20.00 pp is now $23.00 but it’s still a good deal if you’re a steak fan which my DH is. If you hope to eat there as opposed to doing take-out you need to get there fairly early - it’s small and close and fills up fast. Also, they have music that starts around 6:00 ish and while it’s very nice pleasant island music, it tends to be very loud. In honesty, I really enjoy the music but prefer to enjoy it while dining at the Spaghetti House. Did I mention that Kathy makes a yummy BBC? She does, for sure.
Respectfully,
pat

It warms the cockles of my heart to know that you and John are on the island and enjoying a thoroughly relaxing vacation. Booked our flights for November and hope there is overlap again, maybe I can make the pilgrimage to the Mount again. Hopefully we are about 10 weeks away from our summer sojourn.

got November Booked as well (8-17) great time to be there, but then again, anytime is great, searching for flights now....used to like JB, but that has lost its luster.

Miami is on sale, at least for us. Best price in at least 5 years. Flying AA. I like Miami, we might need to use the onsite hotel, at least on the flight down. Great wheelchair service.

I’m loving your reports Pat!
We usually dine out for breakfast only once or twice, but will have to add Reveil Matin to our list.
As for Fat Tony’s, the music is too loud there. I’d like to say it’s because I’m old, but my cochlear implant doesn’t like loud, lol! Do you know if you can get the steak as take out?

Not sure about take out but I’d be surprised if you couldn’t have it to go. We left just as the music was getting going - perfect timing.
If I were doing that, I’d ask Emanuel for a grill on my lanai, order my steak medium raw and reheat it here on the grill. Truthfully, I prefer a ribeye over a strip but I’m not a major steak eater. We had enough steak left to bring it home for reheats today or tomorrow.

Hi Pat. Told ya. I couldn't agree more on your review of Reveil Matin There is so much on their menu it's hard to decide what to have. We ate there 3 times and had something different each time and were never disappointed and all the staff are welcoming. We never made it to Fat Tony's but it's still on our list. Next trip.Enjoy every moment of your time left on island. .

Glad you tried Reveil Matin. You can't tell me you didn't have any leftovers there! I hope you got some of their fruit salad, as it is spectacular! Regarding doing carry out at Fat Tony's, we saw several locals in particular doing that last time we were there. I agree, it really is too close in there on steak night. The steel pan music is very nice though. Maybe I will look at the Spaghetti House menu and see if there is something there I would want to eat, as I really do not eat pasta on vacation.

I think every place in Jordan Village does a hefty take-out business. Willing to bet the steak to go would be an option.
Re the Spaghetti House, If you can’t find something good and to your taste, I would be truly shocked. John really enjoys the clams and arugula over pasta. It’s not a fancy-schmancy dinner place but it sure is good. The first time we went there, a few years ago, the owner had a friend filling in for her as she had taken an evening off. He came to our table and asked if we’d like something to drink. Not having yet gotten the take on the place, I asked if he had a wine list. His response - “Red or white!”…….how’s that for a list? One dinner was all it took for us to realize this was a true island gem and to keep us returning over and over.
No airs and no pretensions but darned good eats at reasonable prices. 😊😊

Hi Pat. Do you know which night Spaghetti House is closed. Can't remember if it is Saturday or Sunday. Thanks, Gary

Both DH and I THINK she is closed on Sundays. And what’s really scary is I know she’s told us several times but that’s the best answer we can come up with.

Pat--I will look for the menu online, but I know that I would HATE spaghetti and clams. I really have no interest in any kind of spaghetti on SXM..
(edit) All I found was spaghetti, fettucine and gnocchi. Is that all they have?

TY, bdeeley. Pretty sad when neither of us could remember such a simple fact! Everything I’ve had there has been very good. 🙂🙂

The menu you looked at is the basic menu. On a daily basis there are several specials that range from Ravioli with porcini mushrooms and ricotta to beef lasagna, homemade gnocchi, penne with both fresh and smoked salmon, etc.etc. There are at least 10 different special pastas on a daily basis. There are also a few appetizers such as beef carpaccio, burrata, caesar salad and a few more items. Like many said very simple place, not a big menu , no wine list just a selection of wines with a good price to quality ratio. Spaghetti house realky started as a simple take-away place catering mostly to AUC students', so the basic menu stayed. Now is a bit of a different story. Yes, closed on Saturday!

No not really, because given the limited space and storage availability at Spaghetti House a lot of the specials are based on what is available or prepared almost on a daily basis, and sometimes even upon requests. Only two sauces are prepared in advance and normally they are prepared again every 2 max 3 days. Sometimes the specials are written in the facebook page. Thank you

Home from our travels yesterday and Bill walked over to Spaghetti House for takeaway. Both specials, both amazing! And enough left for lunch today!
You can always call to find out the specials.
