Our last night before our flight home will be on a Tuesday at Mafolie hotel and the restaurant is closed on Tuesday's. Does anyone
know if there is a restaurant nearby that we can get to for dinner without taking a taxi into town?

Are you talking within walking distance or just closer than downtown?

I'm thinking walking distance...finger's crossed. I do know that Mafolie is up the hill and although we have dined there a couple of times
we have never stayed there and I'm not real sure what is in the same area, if anything. Our only option for now, due to a late ferry arrival
from Roadtown, Tortola is to check our bag's at the ferry dock and pick a restaurant downtown Charlotte Amalie and then arriving for
a late check in at Mafolie, which requires advance notification as their check in is from 3 until 5 and later times require notification for
a meet up. Sigh, if only some of the other more convenient hotels weren't so over the top priced.

The wife and I have been talking it over and checking ferry arrival time, etc. Since we arrive from Roadtown at 3:30 PM we decided to go on
up to Mafolie and check in, dump our bags and taxi back town and go shopping, sightseeing, have dinner at a nice restaurant and taxi back up
to the hotel. We were told that even though the bar is closed there is a cooler with wine, beer, etc. by the pool so we can relax, enjoy the view
and get a good nights sleep before a long next day flight home. At least we are glad to be back after two year's and know we will have a great time.
Hmm, there will be a late May or early June trip report...

Mal, as you know, as a native New Orleanian and home cook I was somewhat skeptical about your raves. You were right, of course! Authentic gumbo & jambalaya, which are my main tests. Been back a few times - always good!

We had an outstanding experience at Oceana Friday night! Food, atmosphere, view and our waiter Chet were all top-notch.

Have you tried Olga's Fancy. We stayed at Olga's inbound and Mafolie on the outbound and both similarly priced. Enjoyed them both.

Enjoyed Mafolie resturant, but if it is closed (Tuesdays), then I would check on staying at Olga's with several restaurants within an easy walk.

Olga's looks lovely from the pictures, so long as one doesn't have mobility issues. I know that I personally could not deal with all the stairs. The location does seem lovely though.
