Weather permitting we are planning on cruising from Roadtown to Spanish VI's in a 51PC in late November. Would appreciate recommendations on what harbors to spend the night on both Culebra and Vieques. Would like to make sure at least one of the stops has access to water so we can top our tanks off. Thanks in advance.
there are no water fills in SVI, closest would Fajardo P.R. The ride there is a piece of cake, the return trip can be quite frisky. Dewey is going to be your best option in Culebra, and Esperanza in Vieques. If you spend an inexpensive night in Puerto Del Rey, Fajardo, your water refill will be free.
Sorry - no place to get water on either island. You'd have to go to the mainland (Fajardo) to do that. Or top off on St Thomas (e.g. Crown Bay Marina) on the way out and back.
If you want restaurants and bars, Ensenada Honda in Culebra is great - you have to go there first to clear customs anyway. If you want total isolation, Ensenada Honda on Vieques can't be beat.
You actually can get some water in Dewey at the Dinghy Dock if you bring a water jug. Great restaurant/bar right on the water. A night in Culebrita is a must and if you do 2 days in Culebra make sure to take a taxi to Flamenco Beach. Beautiful!
We've anchored a cat in Flamenco Bay twice now. It's a bit rolly, but tolerable in a cat. Great snorkeling on the east end of the bay, and the beach is lovely.
