We drove by the other day on the way to Friars and it doesn't look to promising from the outside. But as the saying goes "You can't judge a book by it's cover". What did you have while there?

We eat at Gutside at least once every trip. The food is wonderful and the conversation with Richard and Lourdes even better.

Whale Tail,

Don’t forget - looks can be deceiving. If I’m remembering correctly, I believe Richard told us he built his property from scratch a little at a time as time and finances allowed. Not a lot of glitz and glamour but very comfortable and old-island in style.

Add to that island style cooking and pleasant service coupled with very reasonable pricing and what more could you ask for?!

Best suggestion, in my personal opinion, definitely make reservations and better to go as a group rather than as a solo couple.

Respectfully,

pat

We have had Richard & Lourdes come to our unit and cook for a group of us. They then dined with us and shared Island stories. One of our best times.

Thanks Pat for your input. Will put it on our list and will make reservations but will have to go as a solo couple

WT,

I’m sure as a single couple you will be well treated but there have been times when, as a single couple, we were the only ones there. And if you are the type who enjoys chatting with true licals that’s not such a bad thing.

My understanding from Richard way back when is when he doesn’t have any reservations he doesn’t bother to open at all.

Respectfully,

pat

Thanks Pat, so reservations would be a must then. As for chatting with true locals it's moments like those that stay with you forever. I hope they can accommodate a late lunch or early dinner as I won't drive those roads after dark. It's enough of a challenge during the day.

Our dinner consisted of 2 stewed conch dinners, one snapper, and one rib dinner.
Once again, we forgot pictures.

Yes, don’t worry about what it looks like. It is true
Island cuisine and you will enjoy Richard
and Lourdes!!!!

Thanks for posting their phone number and your dinner sounds good to me but my wife is a little unsettled about true island cuisine but I'm working on it, We're staying at Flamingo Beach Villas and have done a few walks from Maho to Karacters and go right by BSV, we love that long beach walk and it doesn't hurt that there is a bar at each end. Important to hydrate while out in the sun. Lol

Be sure and try La Patrona that's right next to you at SBR. Very good authentic Mexican cuisine.

Whale tail when we were together you mentioned wishing to book BSV for a month. Depending on the month you may have difficulty. While there we couldn't even get the dates we wanted for 2023. So contact asap. March is pretty much gone.

RonDon Thank you for that info and here I thought once my wife retired vacation planning would be easy. Oh well I've learnt that you always need a plan B and then some. We will certainly get some time in at BSV next year and hopefully our paths will cross again.
