Rained like the dickens here yesterday. Total white out. Could not see the bay a hundred feet away! Satellite went out for over an hour during Ger Alg game! Thank you Apple TV for saving the day! Stay dry. irina

So far, just a bit cloudy here in Central Florida. Not sure we will get any rain here.

Definitely going to disrupt our plans of heading to the beach for fourth of July fireworks.

Raining heavily for a few minutes and then nothing here on the treasure coast, the lawn loves it. Looks like the 4th will be fine in Florida, not so much to the north. After being at ground zero for Sandy and the winter of 2013/2014 on Long Island perhaps our move to Florida in March put us on the right side of the 8 ball.

We sail in the BVI in 2 weeks and our crew/friends are in a beach house at Duck right now with 20 family members, they are sure to lose the last 3 days of their family reunion, rats! Do you know if Dare County usually announce state of emergency/evacuation at CAT1 status?

Beerman,
They usually start very early in the south - Ocracoke Is, Frisco, Avon and then work their way up the banks. My bet Duck will be a early Thursday evacuation if the storm stays on track. If Arthur goes out to sea just a little more they are far enough north that they may be able to stay. While those in the south will definitely be evacuated.
We had a place in Waves many moons ago and were forced to leave about 36 hours before the storm. Had to exit via 64 the Manteo bridge, while the folks up North (Corolla, Duck, Southern Shore and Kitty Hawk had to leave via 158 through Currituck.
Anyway you look at it the traffic SUCKS when everybody leaves the Outer Banks in a hurry and upset their vacation ended early. Hope the best for your friends.

Thanks Tom, they are planning to evacuate tomorrow, however theres no official announcement yet. Current track moved it a hair east but still on top of them. At least they have the BVI in 2 weeks to look forward to, I'm watching NOAA closely now keeping our fingers and toes crossed for our charter!

Understand watching weather patterns when vacationing in July/Aug/Sept. Looking at the interactive world map it looks pretty quiet of the Coast of Africa for the moment. Keeping fingers crossed for you

Good luck to all of you in the Outer Banks. Be safe! I know the feeling of evacuation, been there with Sandy.

Latest prediction by the hurricane center is that it will strenghten to a Catagory 2 by the time it gets to the outer banks.

My Krewe is now safely home in Northern Virginia, they are however VERY disappointed that their 32nd family reunion/vacation was interrupted! Would you believe they have never experienced a TS much less a Hurricane evacuation in the 32 years they have done this??
Hope everyone stays safe down there!

July 4th I guess is still a bit early in the hurricane season, so guess that's why it wasn't disrupted before this. Glad they are all back home now. Hope everyone on the Outer Banks stays safe!
