Raining on and off. Today we move to BSV for our 2nd week.

Yesterday we ate at Astra. One good dish, one fair. Hubby enjoyed his stuffed chicken breast but my linguine in pistachio pesto was drowning in heavy oil, I really wasn’t hungry so it didn’t matter but the little I did eat stayed with me long into the night. Needless to say I did not sleep well.

Deciding what to do between check out and check in.....besides packing.

You can stay at HT even after you check out.

Nice meeting you and Don at the Horny Toad. Can’t believe it’s been almost 20 years of staying there. Betty, the original owner, was a great host and really helped us get acquainted with the island. Her daughter Deb along with her husband Doug now run the Toad and couldn’t be nicer. It’s home away from home whenever we visit. Actually, now that we’re home here on Long Island, I’m missing St. Maarten even more. First day back was heavy rain and thunderstorms, now it’s back to way below average temperatures for a few days! Not going to see 80 degree weather for awhile. Enjoy the rest of your trip at the BSV.

I have heard various mixed reviews of Astra along with yours. Questioning whether I'll give it a try now.

Rosemary and Don,

Wishing you an easy relo. As nice as the owners of HT are, (and they definitely are….) I think you will be equally pleased with your time at Beachside Villas. Between Emanuel (sp?) and Viki and the rest of the outside staff, and the lovely maid staff, it would be hard to be disappointed in your new domain. Enjoy! Two more weeks for us…..and I can’t wait to be there.

Edited to add:

And you’re in luck because there are some other long-time island visitors - really nice people - staying there during your time frame.

Respectfully,

pat

Hey Rosemary, I’m sure Betsy will be fine. Fortunately there are many cat lovers who visit the Horny Toad. There’s no secret that she likes cat treats. Feed her these and she’ll be your best friend.

Ate a lunch and a dinner at Astra. Had the linguini with pistachio pesto and was quite happy with it.

Good to know. I'll probably give it a try and find out myself this May.

Rosemary - If you are a member of the SXM or Bust! Facebook group, one of its administrators, Mike Williams, is currently at BSV.

Pat, this is not our first stay atBsv so we are old timers too. Yes great staff.

Tracy is due here Monday. They were due before but their flight was cancelled.

We are not long-timers at BSV - only stayed there a couple times a year for the past six or seven years and I don’t know why I assumed this was your first stay.

We have met both at Tracy and Drew on different trips but can’t claim the close relationships so many speak of. I can say each of them has always gone the extra mile for us on the few occasions we asked them to and you can’t ask for more than that. At least, not in my book. 😊😊

Respectfully,

pat
