We’ve been in St. Maarten since the end of February, and getting here was an ordeal with Jet Blue. Almost 4 hours late from JFK. Really don’t like ranking on them since they’ve been good in the past, but hearing a lot of unhappy stories about them. We actually had to wait for a pilot to get on to fly the plane back to NY. They’ll get an email from us!

We haven't flown Jet Blue for several years. Last time there was a FUBAR and now they have cancelled our flight. Guess I won't be flying Jet Blue again, any time soon.

We were 2 hrs late leaving SxM on B6. Last time there in 2016, a Delta 757 was stranded on the sxm runway for 2 hours.

That said, I agree but all airlines suck. Private jet is typically better but has its issues as well.

Covid doesn’t help. My friend flies JetBlue to LHR. Pilots don’t have to be vaxxed, tested nor wear masks in the cockpit. So if 3 guys are flying and one ends up sick, that’s 3 crew members down for 5 days. It doesnt help w flight delays.

Please post tomorrow how they resolve the situation.

Oh, I agree all airlines suck, for sure. I don't think there is anything to 'resolve' with Jet Blue, other than getting my points back, which I hope maybe at some point I can use on AA. It appears that this is perhaps part of the partnership of AA and Jet Blue, which I'm not at all sure what the status of that is. Jet Blue now flying perhaps 2 days a week from South Florida, and AA putting on additional flights from Miami. Only problem is that the cost now to book on AA is much higher than it would have been, had we originally booked AA, many months ago.

As of March 4th you are supposed to be able to book a flight on JB with AA miles and vise versa. I looked on the JB site and there are available AA flights but no JB flights on the AA site (same destination/dates) . Sooooo looks like you have a chance to use AA but my need to use some AA miles on JB still won't fly

Edit: looks like JB now only flies Monday/Wed/Sat to SXm from FLL through September (and not June 8th for some reason)

Edit again: Hmmmm.....maybe because THEY cancelled it you could get an AA flight without extra cost (alliance perk)

I may call Jet Blue and see if they will put me on the AA flights, but I am not holding my breath. And Jet Blue is notoriously hard to get in touch with over the phone. I have several appointments today, so I can't really leave a call back number, as if they do call, I will not be available. .

My only option would be to allow them to re-book on AA and I'm sure that can't be done online.

All right, after three hours lost out of my life on hold, Jet Blue says that they can't or won't do anything for me, other than cancel my reservations, since they were made partly with points. Whatever. Thank god that I was able to put AA FF reservations on hold this morning, for 20,000 K each roundtrip, which is pretty decent, only 3 months out. Buying tickets outright was going to be $180 more per person now than they would have been, had we just booked AA to begin with. So will be going online to confirm and pay for those new FF reservations, probably tomorrow, as I'm worn out..

Not fun at all. Jet Blue's email about the cancellation of the flights blamed it on Covid. To my mind, the cancellation didn't have sh*t to do with Covid. Whatever.

That is a weak and invalid excuse.

Glad you got something else booked.

Jet Blue canceled my flight FROM SXM to DC (via FLL) in early May. Annoying!

Yup, pretty much anything through FLL to or from SXM is likely to be cancelled. About two days a week from FLL is all. Or maybe less. Our return was scheduled on a Monday, and theoretically available, but we got an email saying it was cancelled and they eventually confirmed that on my (very long) phone call today.

Sort of related it's every airline. Airtransat from Toronto dropped us in st Maarten January 9. 4 days later emailed us that our return flight was cancelled. Still waiting for $900 that we had to shell out to WestJet to bring us home in February. We kinda thought it could happen as there were 30 passengers going down. But we thought ok February is busier. Not the 6th apparently.

Oh I'm not saying that Jet Blue is different than any other airline. Just a lot of people seemed to think that Jet Blue was this wonderful airline, different than any other, which is plainly not true.

Just really thankful that we were able to save our original dates, which are really important to us, with frequent flyer tickets for a reasonable fare... But of course when I originally booked Jet Blue, Eric wanted me to book AA to begin with...............

As per the Everything SXM site all Jet Blue Flights out of Ft Lauderdale cancelled as of May 1st, resuming on Oct 1st supposedly. I was on a JetBlue flight for May 20, received noticed yesterday. Rebooked on AA at almost $300 more out of Miami, not the happy camper.

Don't know whether it's all flights or not, but definitely anyone booked on Jet Blue out of FLL in the near future needs to be on guard.

I remember JetBlue’s actions after IRMA, and their lack of recovery flights. I’ll pay more for AA, who did a little better.

We have not flown Jet Blue for a long time, as they screwed us over last time. I had booked this trip to use up my Jet Blue miles and was looking forward to not having to go through Miami. So much for that. Maybe I will eventually be able to use the miles on AA..

OK, thanks for the link.

Of course the email from Jet Blue that I got about the cancellation of my flight mentioned Covid, which I was sure at the time was bullsh*t, and of course, it was. Nothing to do with Covid at all. It's convenient to blame Covid when in fact you are just too d*mn cheap to honor reservations already made. I wasn't likely to fly Jet Blue any time soon anyway, but this seals it for sure.

That would be it.....but they still have quite a few days/month (10-14) during the summer with FLL to SXm flights. I would not be to confident if I had any of those dates booked

Edit: response meant to Scuba

I never looked at JB for my bookings as they never broke their flight schedule far enough in advance for me like other airlines do. Seems like if they wait that long to show the flights they should know if they can actually honor those flights.

boucharda--that press release seems to be pretty specific, that they will not be flying from FLL in the summer at all. If you click on the calender dates, for example on June 25, your choice is to fly SXM--SJU-FLL, and the trip takes a MINIMUM of 8 hours, with a long layover in San Juan. Sounds like fun. Not.

I don't usually fly JB but as of today, they show a FLL-SXM schedule into mid-February 2023. The days of only going 6-9 months out seem to be gone.

Yes, I think they did change a few months ago, to start announcing their schedules much further out.. And that's what happened to us--we booked probably 10 months ago for our trip in June, which they have now cancelled....

Carol, thank you for starting this thread. Without it I wouldn't have realized that my Jetblue reservation was also cancelled. Mu wife and I were scheduled May 21 to May 29th on Jetblue out of FLL. Both legs were cancelled. I know Jetblue will rebook me for free but they don't have any flights now that work for us. I am hoping they will cross book us on AA out of Miami. Probably wishful thinking on my part.

Have you contacted Jet Blue yet? You need to do so ASAP. I know Jet Blue has booked SOME people on AA, but they refused to do anything for me. They said it was because my trip was booked partially with points. You will have to call them and be on hold for a LONG time in order to get an answer, but that's your only option, other than just accepting a cancellation. Originally, I was on hold for about an hour and a half, then they said they couldn't help me, but perhaps the "interline group" could help me, so I went on hold with them for another half hour. Then they finally picked up, and first person said they couldn't help me, put me back on hold for another 20 minutes. Supervisor then came online and told me to scr*w off, basically. Cancelled and got my (absolutely f*cking worthless) Jet Blue miles back, along with some cash. I made the mistake when I originally booked it, to transfer points from AMEX to Jet Blue to make that trip happen. That will never happen again. I just hope that I will be able to use those Jet Blue points on AA at some point, because I will not be flying on Jet Blue ever again.

Thank you. I am in the same boat as you as I also transferred AMEX points to Jetblue for booking. So far no luck with Jetblue on the phone but I don't give up easy. I will try everyday until they appease me or arrest me. On a previous trip to SXM I had problems with Delta and was finally able to get it straightened out after emailing the CEO personally.

DRich--good luck. You have a hell of a lot more patience than I do, to deal with those bozos on the telephone. I was ready to commit hari kari after my episode on the phone the other day. I haven't even bothered to log in to my Jet Blue account, to see if my worthless a$$ points are back in my account or not. I just hope that I will be able eventually to use them on AA. I COULD have transferred those AMEX points to Delta, but oh no, took a chance on Jet Blue. Never again.

Like other people in this thread, jetBlue canceled my R/T to SXM from FLL for late May. I had $671 in jetBlue's Travel Bank set to expire on 6/4/22 which I used to book the SXM flights. (The Travel Bank was debited because of a jetBlue flight change last year to STT which caused me to book with another airline). Anyway, the total amount for 4 R/T to SXM came to $1282. I'm no math wizard, but my calculator tells me that I paid an additional $611 with a credit card. $671 + $611 = $1282 Somehow, the fuzzy math employed by jetBlue now credits my Travel Bank with a total of $899. Huh?! I should have a total of $1282. To add insult to injury, they're still putting an expiration of 6/4/22 on half of it. Sorry, but I used the Travel Credits assigned to me in booking the SXM flights. jetBlue canceled. The clock should reset. Based on a suggestion in this thread, I'm using the chat session to try and straighten this out. Currently, it's telling me I have greater than a 2-hour wait to chat with someone.

Good luck. I hope you have better results than I did. I now have a whole bunch of Jet Blue points or whatever they call them, which I just pray at some point I'll be able to use on AA.

Carol the same thing happened to me. I booked directly with JB 4/25 Buffalo-Fort Lauderdale-SXM. Then 5/4 SXM-Fort Lauderdale-Buffalo. Great price, ok times, enough connection time. Added checked bags and selected seats. Easy. Did this 2/21. Then on 3/20 I get email stating one of our flights the 5/4 SXM to Fort Lauderdale has been cancelled. Over several days-more than 7 hours on the phone with 3 different people-around 3 hours live chat with 2 different people by 3/25 I think all is resolved. JB rebooked no price increase 5/4 SXM-JFK, then JFK-Buffalo. Able to print out pages with all the necessary info as to flight #s, times, seats, etc. However the confirmation code for our trip isn't accepted by the JB website if you want to view or manage your trip. I've been assured by JB not to worry but............. I had really hoped JB had got their act together. This is not our first bad experience with JB. Back in 2014 JB flight from Buffalo to JFK delayed. Ready to leave. Pilot came out to talk to us. Doors reopened to allow 9 pax on connecting flt. JKF to Aruba. Our connecting flight JFK with Asiana Airlines. We were heading to Siem Reap, Cambodia. Flight attendant told us not to worry all flights out of JFK delayed, cancelled due to storm that January 2014. Well our Asiana flt. was not delayed. Departed on time. We missed it because JB decided to reopen plane for those 9 pax. Domino effect. Long story short. It took us 4 days to get from Buffalo to SR, Cambodia!! I will not be able to relax until I get to SM on our 4/25 JB flights. Then come 5/4 I will worry until we arrive back home in Buffalo. Eventually I learned that route SXM-FLL is paused eff. 5/1. Would have been nice to know that when I was first booking my flight on 2/21.

Best wishes. The Jet Blue website is notoriously HORRIBLE, that would be really concerning to me, that the website will not recognize your confirmation code. I would be really mad, that you booked it a month ago, and then they cancel the whole connection out of FLL, a month later.

We booked our flights originally in October of last year. I am very happy that we re-booked on AA ASAP, as the FF miles for our trip have gone up from 20K each to over 30K, if one were to book it now, less than a week later.

That does concern me. I asked the last person I spoke to at JB-really the live chat. I asked her what would happen if we show up 4/25 at Buffalo Airport only to be told JB has no record of our reservation. That's why I printed out all the flight info pages. She told me that if that were to happen JB would have to get us on another flight that same day to SXM. I guess we'll see when 4/25 arrives. I do intend to report back! On this site as well as the TA travel forum for SM! I did add the JB app on my iPhone and my flight info does appear so fingers crossed.
