Up at 2:30am to drive to Omaha - airport there was busier than we’ve ever experienced but got through on time to make our flight to CLT. No issues & landed in SXM about 10 minutes later than scheduled. From exiting to meeting lovely gal from Kenny’s to get car took about 30 minutes, on a Saturday! Stopped at a little market to grab some liquid essentials then off to Divi. One bedroom unit facing Great Bay for 12 days. Unpacked & headed to Gizmo’s bar for a couple drinks, mozzarella sticks to go, and back to room for some needed rest.
Awoke around 0645 to rain, rain & more rain. And wind. Decided to do the dreaded but obligatory grocery run. Carrefour has everything! Got that over with and unloaded in the room with the help of a bellman. Still windy & rainy. Headed to PBurg & hit the boardwalk to check out the shops & people watch. Stayed for a couple hours with stops at Hon, Hon, Hon Bar (I think that was the name) and The Laid Back Beach Bar. Split a Mahi sandwich & fries. Just ok. Very few people on boardwalk even tho 2 ships were at port, not sure if they weren’t letting off or people were just choosing to stay on or elsewhere. Maybe saw 50 people, total, throughout the couple hours.
Back to room to drop off our purchases then headed to Driftwood for some plane watching. Sunset & the beach was very busy but we got a table right away at Driftwood. Then quick stop to check out the new Topper’s and have a snack. Shrimp cocktail, edamame & tuna appetizers. The old Topper’s was much more our style. Got some gelato to-go and headed back to room to get in freezer for later.
Back to room then walked down to Gizmo’s, again, for cocktails & Margarita pizza to go.
Currently, coffee on patio & it’s looking to be a beautiful day. Plan is Mullet then V-Day reservations at Palapa Grill. I’ve seen mixed reviews so we will see how that goes!

Apparently it's been kind of windy and rainy the past week. Good for the plants on SXM, but not the best weather for visitors. Thanks for the report and enjoy your stay!

Thanks for the trip report and hoping the rest of your stay is sunny and bright. We have enjoyed Palapa Grill on several visits - DH said he had the best steak he’s ever had on one of our visits. Enjoy! 🙂🙂
Respectfully,
pat

We got here Saturday as well and couldn’t believe how fast we got through Customs and out of the airport. There was also very little traffic on our way to our villa in French Cul de Sac.

Sometimes a rainy day is good for getting those shopping days taken care of. Enjoy.
