For those lucky enough to own property in the BVI's know that your land holder license now grants you a stay of up to 10 months (they say per calender year) up from the old 6 months. I am now working on getting our "permission to reside" bond of $3500 back ( which did not allow working or voting) and will just use my old land holder cars. Thanks to the very nice lady at Immigration for pointing all this out to me..

I'm sitting here imagining where your $3500 might have been spent LOL! Did they say when you should expect your check? My name is not on our alien landholders license, but they gave me two months. Very nice to not have to spend a day in Immigration.

Just to add extra complication I just spoke to the lady in immigration about all of this..and said the 10 months is not in effect and its still 6. She said it had been discussed but not approved. She told me the lady Immigration officer I saw on entry got it wrong..go figure. One of them is wrong and I'm hoping the 10 is right! Love to hear from anyone else about this..I am calling her back tomorrow ( she can't call me because Gov does not allow calls to any numbers outside 284) after she pulls my file and I'll find out about the elusive $3500! More later.

If you see that $3500 before the end of 2022, you owe us all drinks.

I heard the same 10 month rule from our Realtor while looking for land last month. Will be watching to see what you find out.

Now the new runaround begins..they want me to basically reapply for "permission to reside". I said " No..I'll use my land hold status just give me back my $3500". They want a recepit for the money but I said " How could we have got the 'permission to reside'" without paying?" Plus I am sure they have a copy in my file..they have the letter I wrote on Candace's death cert. Then I was told I had to speak to a Mrs Cline to get a form that then goes to the Treasury.Of course Mrs Cline's phone just rings out..more later. BVI Love indeed!

Don't assume they have files. At one point the land registry lost their records. We provided them with copies of our deeds so they could reconstruct their files. Then they tried to charge us a large penalty for building a dock on the reef. They thought we were the original owners of the property because they had none of their own earlier records.
